| Aims With the popularization of informatization,the Internet plays an increasingly important role in science and technology,production and life.The extensive application and development of the Internet make it more convenient for people to share resources and bring great convenience to life.However,excessive use of the Internet will affect the physical and mental health of adolescents,which has been widely concerned by scholars at home and abroad.The purpose of this study was to examine the prevalence of Internet addiction among five-year clinical medical students in Anhui province and to explore the related influencing factors from multiple perspectives.Methods A cross-sectional survey was conducted in three medical university in Anhui province.Stratified cluster sampling was used to select some five-year clinical medicine students in anhui province as participants.Data was collected by using Self-designed questionnaire for general information,professional identity scale,professional commitment scale,Internet addiction scale,anxiety self-rating scale,and depression self-rating scale.Data analyzed by using SPSS23.0 software.Chi-square test was used to compare the difference among groups in the detection rate of Internet addiction among clinical students.The Mann-Whitney U test was used to compare the difference of professional commitment score between Internet addiction group and non-addiction group.To explore the influencing factors of Internet addiction,binary logistic regression model was used.Results A total of 1,418 effective samples were collected in this study.650 studentswere found to have Internet addiction,with an overall detection rate of 45.8%.Among them,514 were diagnosed with mild Internet addiction,with a detection rate of 36.2%;130 were diagnosed with moderate Internet addiction,with a detection rate of 9.2%;6were diagnosed with severe Internet addiction,with a detection rate of 0.4%.Results of univariate analysis showed that the detection rate of Internet addiction in male students was higher than that in female students(49.7% vs 41.4%,P=0.002);the detection rate of Internet addiction in students the heavy study burden was higher than that in those with the light study burden(49.6% vs 42.0%,P=0.004);the detection rate of Internet addiction in students with the strong learning ability was lower than that in those with the moderate or mild learning ability(36.8% vs 48.5%,P=0.001);the detection rate of Internet addiction in students with low parental expectation level was higher than that in those with medium or high parental expectation level(87.5%vs 46.9%/42.4%,P=0.018);the detection rate of Internet addiction in students with high professional identity was lower than that in those with low professional identity(32.2% vs 50.2%,P<0.001);scores of professional commitment in students with Internet addictions was lower than that in those with non-Internet addiction(P<0.05);the detection rate of Internet addiction in students with anxiety was higher than that in those without anxiety(70.2% vs 38.9%,P<0.001);the detection rate of Internet addiction in students with depression was higher than that in those without depression(61.2% vs 35.3%,P<0.001).Results of multivariate analysis showed that female and high professional identity were protective factors of Internet addiction and General/weak learning ability,anxiety and depression were risk factors of Internet addiction.Conclusion The detection rate of Internet addiction among five-year clinical medical students in Anhui province was higher.The Internet addiction of clinical medical students is affected by multiple factors.In addition to gender,Internet addiction is also affected by students’ learning ability and professional identity,as well as by students’ mental status(anxiety and depression). |
