Oropharyngeal cancer(OPC),which is one of the common head and neck cancer, mainly includes the malignant tumor from tonsil, tongue, soft palate and other parts.Foreign epidemiological studies have confirmed the relationship between HPV and OPC,and that the incidence of HPV infection in the cause of OPC is rising year by year,in which the most common type of infection is HPV 16.In recent years, epidemiological studies have shown that the incidence and mortality of OPC is increasing in China, and a number of research also confirmed the relevance of HPV and OPC in China,so CSCO currently recommend p16 immunohistochemical testing as the routine examination of HPV status of OPC in China. But because of that the testing is not carried out commonly in medical institutions in China, the proportion of HPV infection among patients with OPC in China is still unclear. Moreover,an independent staging system for HPV-associated OPC has been established in 2017,which is also applicable to Chinese OPC patients. At present, lots of studies have shown that patients with HPV-related OPC have a good curative effect andprognosis, and the De-ESCALaTE treatment mode of such patients is the focus of current research. In addition,HPV vaccine and screening of HPV infection of human oropharyngeal/oral tissue provide further research directions for the prevention of these diseases. The purpose of this paper is to discuss the relationship between HPV and OPC in China,as well as the current research hotpots of HPV-related OPC,in order to provide more accurate clinical guidance of OPC patients in China.
