Objective:This paper is to investigate the correlation between obesity status and sarcopenia among the elderly and explore the possibility of obesity as a risk factor for sarcopenia, furthermore,to analyze the effect of aerobic exercise on obesity and sarcopenia, and provide theoretical basis and practical guidance for the prevention and treatment of sarcopenia caused by senile obesity. Methods: In this study,a total of 150 elderly people aged over 60 years and met the criterion of this experiment were included. The morphological indexes(height, weight, waist circumference, hip circumference)were measured by a tapeline and body weight meter.Skeletal muscle mass, visceral fat area, body fat percentage were measured by Jawon body composition analyser, relative appendicular skeletal muscle mass index was calculated by skeletal muscle mass divided by height squared,6 meter walking speed wasmeasured by a stopwatch, grip strength was calculated by a grip meter. The diagnosis of sarcopenia was determined by the AWGS diagnostic criteria.According to the body fat percentage, the elderly were divided into the Normal Group(NG),the Overweight Group(OWG),and the Obese Group(OG)to explore the correlation between obesity and sarcopenia. In addition, according to the presence of Exercise history, subjects were divided into Exercise Group and Non-Exercise Group,Exercise Group was further divided into Fitness Qigong Group,Square Dancing Group,Jogging Group and Other Exercise Group, the effect of aerobic exercise on sarcopenia caused by senile obesity was also expounded. Finally, the differences of sarcopenia morbidity and the effect of aerobic Exercise on senile Obesity-induced sarcopenia among the groups were illustrated.Results:(1)The body fat percentage was negatively correlated with grip strength with significantly difference.Body fat percentage was not correlated with walking speed or RASM.(2)NG group,OWG group and OG group showed no significant difference on walking speed.NG group and OWG group were significantly higher than OG group on grip strength and RASM,but there were no significant difference between NG group and OWG group in index grip strength and RASM.(3)The morbidity of sarcopenia in OG group(21.1%)was significantly higher than that in NG group(5.9%)and OWG group(9.3%),but no significant difference between NG group and OWG group was obserbed.(4)Logistic regression analysis showed that high waist circumference, high body fat percentage and high BMI were significantly risk factors for sarcopenia.(5)The prevalence of obesity in exercise group(45.7%)was significantly lower than that in non-exercise group(83.9%)(p < 0.05),and the incidence of sarcopenia in exercise group(4.3%)was significantly lower than that in non-exercise group(35.7%)(p < 0.05),the prevalence of obesity(27.3%)in fitness Qigong group were significantly lower than that in square dance group(54.2%)and jogging group(58.1%)(p < 0.05).The incidence of sarcopenia(0%)in fitness Qi gong group were significantly lower than that in square dance group(4.2%)and jogging group(12.5%)(p <0.05).Conclusion:(1)The skeletal muscle mass and grip strength in overweight and obese elderly population were significantly decreased;(2)The prevalence of sarcopenia increased significantly in the elderly obese population.(3)Aerobic exercise can effectively protects the elderly against obesity-induce sarcopenia, meanwhile, this protective effect in fitness Qi gong group is better than that in square dancing and jogging group.
