Objective To investigate the relationship between serum selenium level and thyroid function in Enshi area,in order to provide more theory basis in prevention and treatment of thyroid diseases. Methods Collect 180 cases with hypothyroidism were selected from December 2018 to June 2019 in hospital, including increased TSH in 60,TSH decreased 60 cases, normal TSH but TPO-Ab positive was 60 cases;60 patients were selected with normal thyroid functions the control group in the outpatient department, excepted thyroid nodules or thyroid tumors by thyroid imaging. To compare and analyze the relationship between serum selenium levels and various indicators, and the difference of selenium concentration between normal person and different types abnormal thyroid function person. Results :The median serum selenium level of the subjects was 139 ug/L;A negative association between serum selenium concentration and TSH(r=-0.25,P=0)and TPO-Ab(r=-0.408,P=0)were found; The blood selenium level of those with decreased TSH was slightly higher than that of those with normal thyroid function(P>0.05).The serum selenium status of thyroid dysfunction were lower than people who had normal thyroid function include hypothyroidism and TPO-Ab,the difference was statistically significant(P < 0.05).Conclusion Selenium status was on the adequate level in enshi area, near the edge of the selenium-rich state.Selenium levels in individuals were negative correlation with TSH and TPO-Ab;In addition to the hyperthyroidism, the blood selenium levels of patients in the hypothyroidism group and the TPO-Ab positive group were lower than those in the normal thyroid function group. This suggests that blood selenium levels are closely related to the normal physiological function of the thyroid, this may be related to the antioxidant effect of selenium, which can prevent oxidative free radicals such as H2O2 from causing immune damage to thyroid tissue, and promote the synthesis and secretion of thyroxine.
