Cortex Lycii is the dry root bark of Lycium chinense Mill.or Lycium barbarum L.It is mainly used for reducing blood pressure(hypotensive effect),removing heat,reducing heat and reducing fire.Cortex Lycii has been used mainly as a decoction.Modern research has also shown that decoction of Cortex Lycii has many pharmacological activities,such as glycosidase inhibitory activity.Although more and more researchers have carried out various researches on Cortex Lycii,the investigation on chemical composition of Cortex Lycii decoction is not enough.So,this study is mainly for constituents in the water extract of Cortex Lycii.Isolation of chemical components provides a basis for subsequent studies on activity.The main contents of this paper are as follows: twenty-two compounds were isolated from the aqueous extract of Cortex Lycii by using a macropore adsorption resin,silica gel,ODS,Sephadex LH-20,ion exchange resin open column chromatography and semi-preparative HPLC.The structures of these compounds were identified by spectroscopil methods such as MS,NMR and CD: 2S-2-(1-hydroxymethyl-vinyl)-6,7-dimethyl-1,2,3,4-tetrahydro-naphthalen-2-ol(1),2S,3R-3-(1-hydroxymethyl-vinyl)-6,7-dimethyl-1,2,3,4-tetrahydro-naphthalen-3-ol(2),2S-2-(1-hydroxy-1-methyl-ethyl)-6,7-dimethyl-1,2,3,4-tetrahydro-naphthalen-2-ol(3),3R-2-methyl-5-(2,4,5-trimethylphenyl)-pentane-2,3-diol(4),1,2,3,4-tetrahydro-4-hydroxy-?,?,5,8-tetramethyl-2-naphthalenemethanol(5),6,10-dimethyl-2-(1-methyle-thenyl)spiro[4.5]deca-6,9-8-one(6),paulownin(7),scopoletin(8),2E-3-(4-hydroxy-3,5-dimethoxyphenyl)-N-[2-(4-hy-droxyphenyl)ethyl]-2-propenamide(9),lyciumide A(10),isoquercitrin(11),?-sitosterol(12),[1,2,4]triazolo[4,3-a]pyrazin-6-ylamine(13),5-hydrazino-pyridine-2-carboxylic-acid-(1H-tetrazol-5-ylmethyl)-amide(14),lycium B(15),lycium D(16),cyclo[D-?-aspartyl-1-(phenylmethyl)-L-histidyl-L-?-aspartyl-D-leucyl-L-leucyl-D-try-ptophyl](17),lycium A(18),cyclo[L-tryptophan-L-valylglycyl-L-?-glycineyl-L-seryl-5-(oxo)-L-prolyl-L-prolyl-L-?-glycineyl-L-tryptophyl](19),cyclo[L-prolyl-L-glut-aminyl-L-leucyl-L-?-glutamyl-3-(2-naphthalenyl)-L-alanyl-N-(4-nitrophenyl)-L-alaninamide](20),cyclo[L-?-aspartyl-D-leucyl-L-leucyl-D-tryptophyl-D-?-aspartyl-N-5-(1 H-indol-3-ylacetyl)-L-ornithyl](21),cyclo[L-alanine-L-glutaminyl-L-asparaginyl-L-?-aspartyl-L-tyrosyl-L-histidyl-L-tryptophyl](22).Compounds 1-4 are new compounds.The isolated compounds were tested for cytotoxic,anti-inflammatory and antioxid-antactivities.The results show that all compounds have no cytotoxic activity at the the test concentration of 100 ?g/ml,and anti-inflammatory and antioxidantactivity are not significant.
