Objective This study aims to observe the correlation between serum Orexin-A and early postoperative cognitive function in elderly patients undergoing lumbar spinal surgerg with general anesthesia.Methods1.A total of 76 elderly patients(age ? 65 years)who received general anesthesia in Affiliated Hospital of Inner Mongolia Medical University from December2018 to December 2019 were collected who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria.2.All the enrolled patients were assessed by the same doctor with the Montreal cognitive asessment scale(Mo CA)one day before the surgery and one to three day after the surgery, and venous blood was extracted from the patient on the operation day and one day after the operation, and the serum levels of Orexin-A and S100? were measured by ELISA;3.All patients were divided into POCD group and NPOCD group according to the results of patients' cognitive function evaluation. All data were analyzed statistically to analyze the differences between the two groups of serum Orexin-A and S100? and their correlation with Mo CA scores. Results The postoperative Orexin-A level was positively correlated with the Mo CA score and negatively correlated with the S100? protein level in the two groups, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).There was no significant difference in preoperative serum Orexin-A levels between the two groups of patients(P>0.05);There was a statistically significant difference in serum Orexin-A levels between the two groups(P <0.05);The postoperative S100? protein level in the two groups was higherthan before the operation, and the POCD group increased more significantly, the difference between the two groups after surgery was statistically significant(P <0.05).Conclusion Serum Orexin-A levels are positively correlated with early postoperative cognitive function in elderly patients undergoing general anesthesia, suggesting that Orexin-A may be a potential target for reducing the risk of postoperative cognitive dysfunction in such patients,so as to provide new ideas for the prevention and improvement of postoperative cognitive dysfunction in elderly patients in the future.
