Objectives In order to understand the value of extended high frequency audiometry in the early monitoring of hearing damage in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus and tinnitus, audiology examination was carried out in normal people, tinnitus patients, type 2diabetes patients and type 2 diabetes patients with tinnitus. Methods 30 patients(60 ears)with normal pure tone audiometry were selected as the control group;36 patients(60 ears)with tinnitus, including 24 with bilateral tinnitus and12 with unilateral tinnitus;30 patients(60 ears)with type 2 diabetes;42 patients(70 ears)with type 2 diabetes and tinnitus, including 28 patients with type 2 diabetes and 14 patients with type 2 diabetes and unilateral tinnitus, were respectively tested by extended high frequency audiometry The results were compared. Results 1 In tinnitus group, the 10?18k Hz extended high frequency hearing threshold was significantly higher than that in the control group, and the 14?18k Hz threshold detection rate was significantly lower than that in the control group, with a statistically significant difference(P<0.05);2 In type 2 diabetes mellitus, the 10?18k Hz extended high frequency hearing threshold was significantly higher than that in the control group, and the 16?18k Hz threshold detection rate was significantly lower than that in the control group, with a statistically significant difference(P<0.05);3 The 10?18k Hz extended high frequency threshold of type 2 diabetic patients with tinnitus was significantly higher than that of normal people, type 2 diabetic patients and tinnitus patients, while the12.5?18k Hz threshold detection rate was significantly lower than that of normal people, type 2 diabetic patients and tinnitus patients(P<0.05).Conclusions 1 The extended high frequency test can be used to monitor the early hearing loss of type 2 diabetic patients, tinnitus patients, especially type 2 diabetic patients with tinnitus.2 The normal threshold of pure tone audiometry does not mean that the patient's hearing function is good.Figure0;Table12;Reference 98.
