Objective: To evaluate the efficacy of integrated Chinese and western medicine in the treatment of acute tonsillitis in children and to provide evidence for clinical practice. Methods: The clinical randomized controlled study of oral Chinese medicine in the treatment of acute tonsillitis in children was collected from the databases of CNKI?WF?VIP?CBM?Medline,Embase,Pubmed,Cochrane Library and so on."Acute tonsillitis "," children "," acute milk moth"," Chinese medicine "," clinical efficacy" as the search terms, two researchers independently retrieval and screening of literature.Cochrane collaborative network was used for quality evaluation,Review Manager 5.3 software for data analysis, publication bias analysis and sensitivity analysis. The main evaluation indexes were clinical effective rate, clinical cure rate, antipyretic time and disappearance time of purulent secretion of tonsil. Results: Data results: A total of 27 articles were included in this study, all in Chinese, and a total of 2675 cases were included,including1381 in the treatment group and 1294 in the control group.21 articles only mentioned random grouping, but did not describe the method of generating random sequences,6 articles mentioned the use of random number table method for grouping;27 articles did not describe the hiding of random allocation schemes;two articles mentioned the application of blind method;all literature did not carry out intentionality analysis.Meta analysis:Treatment of acute tonsillitis in children with integrated Chinese and western medicine [OR = 2.72,95% CI(2.29,3.23),P<0.00001],effective rate [OR = 4.73,95% CI(3.45,6.48),P<0.00001],temperature recovery time [MD=-1.06,95% CI(-1.24,-0.87),P<0.00001],pharynx purulent secretion disappearance time [MD=-1.13,95% CI(-1.49,-0.78),P<0.00001].Time of remission of sore throat [MD =-0.72,95%CI(-0.89,-0.56),P <0.00001],time of regression of tonsillomegaly [MD=-0.96,95%CI(-1.46,-0.46),P=0.0002],time of remission of hyperemia in pharynx[MD=-0.71,95% CI(-0.83,-0.58),P<0.00001].All aspects are superior to western medicine alone, and the difference is significant. Conclusion: Integrated Chinese and Western medicine has some advantages in treating acute tonsillitis in children.
