Objective:This study was to investigate the cognition of advance care planning in cancer patients,and to analyze its influencing factors,to identify the characteristics of people who are likely to receive advance care planning,and to provide a basis for the further development of advance care planning.Material and method:This study is a descriptive research,using the convenience sampling method,from May2019 to December 2019,180 cancer patients from a 3-A grade cancer hospital in a certain province were selected for questionnaire survey.The questionnaires used in this study included: patient general information questionnaire,eysenck personality questionnaire(Chinese version),questionnaire on patient advance care planning acceptance,social support rating scale,and Anderson symptom assessment scale.SPSS 23.0 was applied for data analyze and draw the research conclusions.Results:1.The total score of cognition of advance care planning for cancer patients was69.10±7.03,which is in the upper middle level.Scores of each dimension: The attitude dimension of advance care planning scored 11.97±1.85,which is in the upper middle level.The feeling dimension of advance care planning scored 38.24±4.68,which is in the upper middle level.The intention dimension of advance care planning scored 18.90±2.65,which is in the middle level.2.Results of univariate analysis: the level of education,place of residence,children's situation,religious belief,time to know diagnosis,personality traits,and severity of symptoms had statistically significant differences on the cognition of advance care planning of cancer patients(P<0.05).3.Results of correlation analysis: The social support was positively correlated with the cognition of advance care planning of cancer patients(r=0.203,P<0.01).The social support was positively correlated with the attitude of advance care planning of cancer patients(r=0.191,P<0.05).The social support was positively correlated with the feeling of advance care planning of cancer patients(r=0.203,P<0.01).The social support was positively correlated with the intention of advance care planning of cancer patients(r=0.191,P<0.05).4.Results of multi-factor analysis: The level of education,place of residence,children's situation,religious belief,time to know diagnosis,personality traits,and severity of symptoms were entered into the regression equation.The regression coefficients are b=1.463,b=-1.525,b=-7.776,b=4.048,b=2.427,b=2.313,b=1.510,b=0.161,P < 0.05.Conclusion:1.The cognition of advance care planning in cancer patients are in the upper medium level which is in an ideal state.Most of patients have a positive attitude towards advance care planning.2.Factors influencing the cognition of advance care planning for cancer patients include:the level of education,children's situation,religious belief,time to know diagnosis,personality traits,severity of symptoms,and social support.Cancer patients who live in cities,have high education level,no children,have religious beliefs,know diagnosis for a long time,with more serious symptoms,higher social support,and have multiple blood type personality traits have better cognition and acceptance of advance care planning,and have more positive attitude.
