Objective: To study the changes of serum procalcitonin(PCT)levels and explore the role of PCT in Kawasaki disease(KD)Methods: 196 children with Kawasaki disease who were hospitalized in the First Affiliated Hospital of China Medical University from January 2012 to September 2019 were selected as the study subjects, and were divided into the typical group, incomplete group, gamma globulin(IVIG)response group, and IVIG non-response.Group,coronary artery lesions group and noncoronary artery lesions group, blood samples were taken to test PCT,CRP,ESR,blood routine and other laboratory indicators before and 48-72 hours after treatment, and statistical analysis was performed.Result:1.Children with KD have elevated serum PCT levels. Most children(65.82%)have PCTs <0.5ng / m L.A few children with KD can have serum PCT levels exceeding 0.5ng / m L,or even 3ng / m L or more.2.Serum PCT levels in children with KD increased, and PCT significantly decreased after IVIG treatment, the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05);3.Serum PCT levels in children with typical KD were higher than incomplete KD(P<0.05);4 The serum PCT level of children with IVIG non-reactive KD is higher than IVIG reactive KD(P <0.05).In the ROC curve analysis, the area under the working characteristic curve(AUC)of PCT subjects was 0.710,with PCT = 0.535 ng / When m L was the cutoff value, the sensitivity of diagnosis of IVIG non-reactive KD was 55.74%,and the specificity was84.62%.5.There was no significant difference in serum PCT levels between KD with coronary artery dilation and KD without coronary artery(P> 0.05).Conclusion:PCT is a sensitive indicator of bacterial infection, but serum PCT levels in children with KD increase to varying degrees, and PCT levels decrease after IVIG treatment, suggesting that PCT is helpful for the diagnosis and treatment of KD,and the increase of PCT has certain clinical significance for the diagnosis of typical KD and IVIG non-responsive KD.
