Objective:To study the relationship between body mass index(BMI)and the clinical characteristics of Psoriatic arthritis(PSA),and to clarify the clinical significance of BMI in PSA.Subjects and methods:According to the strict inclusion criteria and exclusion criteria,select 60 patients with psoriatic arthritis patients hospitalized in May 2016 to October 2018 during the First Affiliated Hospital of China Medical University,and the patients were divided into two groups according to BMI: Group A(BMI<24 kg/m2)and Group B(BMI?24 kg/m2).To analyze the difference of clinical features between different groups and the correlation between BMI and important clinical indexes in order to clarify the clinical significance of BMI.Application of SPSS 21.0 statistical package.By the statistical analysis software,the measurement data are accord with normal distribution.The measuring data using mean ± standard deviation,said hypothesis test using t test;Count data description of the use cases and percentage,sample rate compared by chi-square test.Pearson correlation coefficient between the variables used to test parameters associated degree;with P < 0.05 showed statistically significant difference.Results:The BMI of Group A was 21.21±1.82 kg/m2,and the BMI of Group B was 27.20±2.53 kg/m2.Two groups of patients with C3(1.05±0.28 g/L vs.1.27±0.25 g/L,P=0.004),C4(0.24±0.09 g/L vs.0.28±0.64 g/L,P=0.023),the CD3 cells(967.71±282.57 /ul vs.1285.46±479.95 /ul,P=0.021),low density lipoprotein cholesterol(2.51±0.48 mmol/L vs.2.95±0.82 mmol/L,P = 0.035),high density lipoprotein cholesterol(1.09±0.30 mmol/L vs.0.93±0.22 mmol/L,P=0.042),uric acid level(245.52±82.40 ?mol/L vs.295.56±70.40 ?mol/L,P=0.017),bicarbonate ions(23.50±1.91 mmol/L vs.24.56±1.92 mmol/L,P=0.04)of the difference is statistically significant.BMI was positively correlated with C3(r=0.347,p=0.008),uric acid(r=0.323,p=0.014)and negatively correlated with high-density lipoprotein cholesterol(r=-0.362,p=0.011).Conclusions:BMI is closely related to inflammatory reaction,and the higher BMI is,the more intense complement reaction is.Obesity may through the complement system appears in the body's inflammatory process.Obesity affect Ps A is complex,containing a variety of factors.The body state of chronic low-grade inflammation will seriously affect the progress of the disease and prognosis.Ps A related complications such as metabolic syndrome,gout patients need to cause enough attention.Weight control,therefore,may be the auxiliary treatment of Ps A and prevent complications from the feasibility of the method.At the same time,we should also actively study of obesity and the mechanism of action of fat cells factor of Ps A,as soon as possible to develop new treatments,slow disease progression and improve prognosis of disease.
