Objective:To analyze the frailty status of elderly inpatients and to explore the relationship and clinical significance between the expression of serum cystatin C and the different degrees of frailty. Methods: A total of 103 elderly inpatients over the age of 60 admitted to the Department of Geriatrics,Shengjing Hospital,China Medical University from July 2018 to December 2019 were enrolled as the research subjects, excluding long-term bed mobility problems, advanced dementia, advanced malignant tumors and those with complete disability who cannot cooperate with the completion of the frailty assessment. The patients were evaluated by the Fried's frailty phenotype, and the patients were divided into two groups: prefrail(n=48)and frail(n=55).The relationship between the degree of frailty and the expression of serum cystatin C was analyzed.Results:1.The clinical data of elderly inpatients with frailty showed that there were significant differences in age, smoking, drinking and BMI between the prefrail and frail groups, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).2.The expression of serum cystatin C in frail group was higher than that in the prefrail group, and the difference was statistically significant(P< 0.05).3.By the Spearman analysis, serum cystatin C and age were related with the development of frailty.Conclusion:1.According to the analysis of elderly inpatients with frailty, there were differences in frailty among smoking, drinking, chronic diseases and BMI.However, due to the sample size,it was not enough to show that smoking, drinking, chronic diseases and BMI were the influence factors of frailty development, and it was not sufficient to prove that they were related to the degree of frailty.2.Age was related to the degree of frailty and was an influence factor for the development of frailty.3.The differences in the expression of serum cystatin C between the prefrail and frail group indicated that serum cystatin C level could predict the development of frailty and evaluate the frailty degree, which provided a basis for the screening of frailty elderly inpatients and the formulation of a reasonable treatment plan in the clinical work.
