Objective: Metabolic syndrome(Met S)is a pathological state of metabolic disorders of carbohydrates, proteins, adipose and other substances.Cystatin C(Cys-c)is a common indicator in renal function tests, which can be used to evaluate the glomerular filtration rate.Recent years,Cys-c has been found to play a role in physiological and pathological processes such as energy metabolism and inflammatory stress. In this study, children and adolescents were selected as the research objects to explore the changes of serum cystatin in patients with metabolic syndrome. Methods: Retrospective analysis was performed on the medical records of patients diagnosed metabolic syndrome or simple obesity in the pediatrics department of the first affiliated hospital of China Medical University in the past 9 years and the outpatient took physical examination.Patients included were all with complete data, and divided into the metabolic syndrome group, simple obesity group and control group. The metabolic syndrome group was further divided into hyperglycemia group and normal blood glucose group, hypertension group and normal blood pressure group, hyperlipidemia group and normal blood lipid group.General data of patients were collected including: height, weight, waist circumference, blood pressure, body mass index(BMI),waist-to-height ratio(WHt R),creatinine(Cr),Cys-c,blood adipose(TG,TC,HDL,LDL),blood glucose and other test indicators. The data were statistically analyzed using SPSS19.0,and the test level was 0.05.Results: 1.Compared with the control group, there was no significant increase in serum cys-c in the metabolic syndrome group(P >0.05),and compared with the simple obesity group,no significant increase in serum Cys-c in the metabolic syndrome group(P >0.05).Compared with the control group, there was no significant increase in serum Cys-c in the simple obesity group(P > 0.05).2.In the metabolic syndrome group, compared with the normal blood glucose group, the serum Cr and Cys-c levels in the hyperglycemia group significantly decreased(P <0.05).3.In the metabolic syndrome group, there was a significant increase in the serum level of Cys-c between the normal blood pressure group and the hypertension group(P <0.05).4.In the metabolic syndrome group, there was no significant difference in the serum level of Cys-c between the normal adipose group and the hyperlipidemia group(P >0.05).5.Serum levels of Cys-c in patients with metabolic syndrome were positively correlated with BMI and WHt R,and negatively correlated with blood glucose(P <0.05).Conclusion: Compared with simple obesity or normal control group, there was no significant increase in serum Cys-c in children and adolescents with metabolic syndrome.Changes in serum Cys-c levels in children with metabolic syndrome may be related to BMI,WHt R,blood glucose levels or blood pressure.
