Objective This study aims to build a process model of family resilience in breast cancer patients' families in response to breast cancer. It intends to address two key issues. One is "How do breast cancer patients respond specifically in the process of coping with diseases? ";The second is " What factors promote or hinder in this response process ?".Methods This study used a proceduralised grounded theory research method, using objective sampling, theoretical sampling, and snowball sampling. From November2018 to January 2020,a tertiary hospital in Anhui Province and a breast health management center were considered, considering different personality characteristics of the research subjects.A total of 18 families were selected for semi-structured in-depth interviews(transcribed text totaling 296,032 words).Interview the family's positive experience after the patient was diagnosed with breast cancer. The interview materials were recorded, and the interview materials were transcribed into text files by two persons. The basic information was analyzed by Excel 2010.Transcribed texts were analyzed using Nvivo software. Results This study explored the process model of breast cancer patients' families from the diagnosis of breast cancer to the final formation of family resilience, including the three stages of "family resilience initial stage","family resilience generation stage" and "family resilience maintenance stage".Four first-level categories of "disease perception","co-response","family resilience results",and "change" are formed,of which "co-response" is the core category. This study longitudinally described the overall change process of breast cancer patients ' families after the initial diagnosis of breast cancer from the three stages of initial diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation, and analyzed the influencing factors in this process, and initially built a model of breast cancer patients' family resilience process. Conclusion This study described the attitudes, strategies, and influencing factors of breast cancer patients in the family disease coping process in the context of Chinese society and family.A family resilience process model for breast cancer patients was constructed, which provided clinical guidance for guiding breast cancer patients' families to better cope with the disease.
