Objective:The study explores the cognition and risks factors for cognitive impairment of adult male methamphetamine addicts. Methods:The survey was conducted in Yantai drug treatment center in Shandong province,China.A total of 389 adult male methamphetamine addicts within 1 years abstinence were included in our analy-sis.MoCA,WAIS-RC-Digit Span,WAIS-RC-Picture Fill,BIS-11,SAS,SDS were used to measure the cognitive impairment, instantaneous memory,visual-spatial memory, impulse, anxiety and depression in patients. The independent-sample t test and chi-square test were used to compare the demographic and clinical characteristics of methamphetamine addicts with and without cognitive impairment.Covariance analysis was used to adjust the baseline of methamphetamine addicts with and without cognitive impairment and to compare the cognitive level, instantaneous memory,visual-spatial memory, impulse, anxiety and depression of the two groups.Univariate logistic regression analysis was used to explore the risk factors of cognitive impairment in adult male methampheta-mine addicts.Multivariate logistic regression analysis was used to explore independent risk factors of cognitive impairment in adult male 'methamphetamine addicts. Results:The incidence of cognitive impairment was 59.1%in 230 adult male methamphetamine addi-cts.The independent-sample t test and chi-square test showed that there were significant differences in age, years of education, age of first methamphetamine abuse and age of last methamphetamine abuse between the two groups of male methamphetamine addicts with or without cognitive impair-ment(P<0.05).After baseline adjustment, the score of MoCA,WAIS-RC-Digit Span,WAIS-RC-Picture Fill,BIS-11,SAS and SDS in the two groups were compared, the results showed that the MoCA total score and scores of each item,WAIS digital span and picture fill items of male abstain-ers with cognitive impairment were significantly lower than those without cognitive impairment(P<0.05),while BIS-11 scale scores of cognitive impulsivity, anxiety and depression were signifi-cantly higher than those without cognitive impairment(P<0.05).Univariate logistic regression anal-ysis showed that age, education level, age of last drug use, anxiety, depression and impulsively were the influencing factors of cognitive impairment in adult male methamphetamine addicts.Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that older age, lower education level and depression were indep-endent risk factors for cognitive impairment in adult male methamphetamine addicts. Conclusions:Adult male methamphetamine addicts have multiple aspects of cognitive impairment and accompanied by a certain degree of anxiety, depression, impulsivity during abstinence.Adult male methamphetamine addicts with older age, lower education and depression were more likely to suffer cognitve impairment.
