Polygonatum cyrtonema Hua,which is growing in Jiuhua Mountain,is genuine medicinal materials.The processing methods of it are cutted,single-steamed,re-steamed,nine times steamed and nine times shined and so on.The active components are Polysaccharide and saponins of it.It has many pharmacological activities,such as antioxidant,regulating immunity,lowering blood sugar,lowering blood lipid and so on.This paper summarized the morphology,efficacy,ancient processing methods,modern processing methods,chemical constituents,pharmacological effects and application status of samples.The selection of materials(4-year-old Polygonatum cyrtonema Hua and its 4th instar in Jiuhua Mountain),processing methods(cutting,single steaming,re-steaming,nine times steamed and nine times shined)and the significance of content selection were expounded.The 18 batches of samples were subjected to the relevant experiments.It was found that the content of alcohol extract,polysaccharide,small molecule total sugar(except JZJP2),non-reducing oligosaccharide and total sugar decreased,the content of reducing sugar and total saponins increased.Through multi-index comprehensive evaluation,it was found that the comprehensive score of the samples under re-steaming method 2 was the highest,followed closely by that under nine times steamed and nine times shined method 2,but in terms of traits,nine times steamed and nine times shined method 2 products were slightly better than that under re-steaming method 2.It was found that the content of active ingredients(polysaccharide,reducing sugar,small molecule total sugar and total saponins)of the 4th-instar of Polygonatum cyrtonema Hua was slightly higher than that of 4-year-old Polygonatum cyrtonema Hua in Jiuhua Mountain.The change trend of active components(polysaccharide,reducing sugar,small molecule total sugarand total saponins)of 4-year-old Polygonatum cyrtonema Hua and its4th-instar were basically the same under different processing methods.There are slight differences in properties,inspection,extracts and content determination between different processed Polygonatum cyrtonema Hua pieces.The market demand of Polygonatum cyrtonema Hua is expanding constantly,and the development prospect of Polygonatum cyrtonema Hua is relatively broad.The 4th instar of Polygonatum cyrtonema Hua can be processed by the nine times steamed and nine times shined method 2(products requiring product characteristics)or re-steaming method 2(products not requiring product characteristics).This study lays a foundation for the further optimization of the processing methods of Polygonatum cyrtonema Hua,lays a foundation for the establishment of processing technical standard operating procedures and quality control system of Polygonatum cyrtonema Hua decoction pieces,and also provides a theoretical basis for the optimization of Polygonatum cyrtonema Hua industry,product upgrading and the development of high-quality products.
