A Study On Visual Perception Assessment Of Children With Autism Spectrum Disorders Based On Computer Games

Over the past two decades,many researchers have been exploring ways to better assess the abilities of children with autism,focusing on the core symptoms of children with autism:social dysfunction,language impairment,and repetitive and stereotypical behavior patterns.However,the symptoms of autism are much broader than these,with problems in sensory perception,large motor,fine motor,cognitive,emotional,and behavioral problems.In particular,sensory perception learning is the basis of children's cognitive learning,but there are few studies on sensory perception assessment.Therefore,this paper will evaluate the children's visual perception ability as the research content.At present,domestic and foreign assessment methods all rely on the scale,and at the same time,questionnaire survey and interview of parents are used to assist assessment and diagnosis.However,with the rapid rise of the prevalence of autism,traditional scales and questionnaires have been unable to meet the needs of society and families.So how along with assessment has become the most concern,due to the rapid development of computer technology and its characteristics is not restricted by time and space,the researchers began to use computer technology to more service for autistic children,and a lot of research on the video games that children with autism can maintain a higher level of attention,at the same time,with the computer interaction can reduce the occurrence of symptoms,so in this paper,design some computer games to assess autistic children's visual perception ability.In addition to the computer,we also need to use the evaluation tools including the complete evaluation framework,evaluation elements and evaluation indicators.Firstly,based on the domestic and foreign theoretical research and the concept of visual perception,this paper needs to set its evaluation elements according to the visual perception characteristics of autistic children,including visual memory,visual search,visual discrimination and visual overall processing.Secondly,specific evaluation indexes should be determined.The evaluation indexes in this paper are all achieved through games,so the evaluation indexes can be obtained from the results of games.Game scores and game duration are also the evaluation indexes of visual perception ability.Finally,a game was designed to assess children's abilities.The most important point in evaluating the game design is to evaluate the effectiveness of the game and to reflect on and summarize the deficiencies of the game design in the process of verification.Through positivist research,this article will testing 30 autistic children and non-autistic children,obtain evaluation data,then compare data of autistic children and normal children,the experiment results show that the autistic children and normal children in visual memory,visual search and visual discrimination have significant difference,and the overall visual assessment,assessment is verified the effectiveness of the game.
