OBJECTIVE The purpose of this study was to explore the relationship between symptoms, age, sex, location and volume of juvenile polyps in different numbers,so as to provide a basis for clinical diagnosis and treatment of juvenile polyps.METHOD 96 cases of juvenile polyps diagnosed by colonoscopy and pathology in our hospital from January 2009 to January 2019 were retrospectively analyzed.Their age, sex, time of stool blood, hemoglobin, mean red blood cell volume, location, size and volume of polyps were counted.According to the number of polyps,96 cases of juvenile polyps were divided into three groups:solitary juvenile polyps(SJP)group(polyp number n=1),multiple juvenile polyps(MJP)group(polyp number n=2-4),juvenile polyposis syndrome(JPS)group(polyp number n?5).Age,sex,stool blood time, hemoglobin, mean red blood cell volume, polyp location, size and volume were compared among SJP,MJP and JPS groups.Statistical significance was analyzed between different types of juvenile polyps and the above factors.RESULT There were 77 patients in SJP group,14 in MJP group and 5 in JPS group. All patients had different degrees of hematochezia, abdominal pain, diarrhea and other symptoms. There was no significant difference in the time of stool blood and sex of the same diagnosis(P>0.05);there were significant differences in age, hemoglobin, mean red blood cell volume, polyp location and volume among the three groups(P<0.05);the median age of SJP group(16.0 years)was significantly lower than that of MJP group(17.5 years)and JPS group(30.0 years)(P<0.05),and the age of MJP group was lower than that of JPS group(P>0.05).In hemoglobin, the mean hemoglobin volume(81.0fl)in SJP group was significantly higher than that in MJP group(120.79(+7.91g/l)and JPS group(113.4(+9.84g/l)(P<0.05),while that in MJP group was higher than that in JPS group(P>0.05);the mean hemoglobin volume(81.0fl)in SJP group was significantly higher than that in MJP group(77.2fl)and JPS group(74.0fl)(P<0.05),while that in MJPS group was higher than that in JPS group(P>0.05).The proportion of rectum in SJP group was 83.1%,which was significantly higher than that in MJP group(42.3%)and JPS group(41.7%)(P<0.05).In volume, the median volume of SJP group(1860 mm3)was significantly higher than that of MJP group(1595 mm3)and JPS group(890 mm3)(P<0.05),and the median volume of MJP group was higher than that of JPS group(P>0.05).CONCLUSION(1)Most of the patients with juvenile polyps are males, and most of them are children. The main symptoms are blood.Isolated juvenile polyps account for the vast majority of the patients with juvenile polyps.(2)The patients with SJP are younger, with mild anemia. The main distribution of polyps is rectosigmoid colon, and the volume of single polyp is larger.(3)Some adults can be seen in JPS patients with severe anemia. The polyps are distributed all over the colon and the volume of single polyp is smaller.(4)The clinical symptoms and endoscopic manifestations of MJP patients are between SJP patients and JPS patients.
