Objective: To observe the change of blood oxygen saturation of people at different altitudes and prove the effect of acupuncture on adjusting the adaptability of people at high altitudes. Methods: the qualified subjects were randomly divided into two groups: the treatment group(25 cases)and the control group(25 cases). The control group only required self acclimation. The treatment group was given the treatment plan of specific acupoint acupuncture, and the two groups were required to fully rest and self acclimation. The experiment was carried out three times in Linzhi Area of Tibet(average altitude of 3100 meters),Shigatse of Tibet(average altitude of 3850meters)and ali'gar County of Tibet(average altitude of 4350 meters).Observe and record the physical condition, adverse reactions and arterial oxygen saturation of the subjects 1-5 days after treatment in each area, observe the changes of oxygen saturation of the subjects at different altitudes and genders, and objectively evaluate the efficacy and safety. Results: there was no significant difference in age, gender, height, body mass and body mass between the two groups. After acupuncture treatment, the blood oxygen saturation of the treatment group was significantly higher than that of the control group in Linzhi,Shigatse andGar County for 5 consecutive days, and the difference was statistically significant. The change of oxygen saturation on the 3rd and 5th day in each area was significantly different from that on the first day,and with the elevation increasing, the change of oxygen saturation was decreasing. There was significant difference between Shigatse area and ali'gar county and Linzhi Area. There was a significant difference in the change of blood oxygen saturation between men and women in the treatment group, and the increase was greater in men.The results of logistic regression analysis showed that the change of blood oxygen saturation was related to sex,age and body mass index. The most common adverse cases in the treatment group were pneumothorax, including 3 cases in Linzhi,3 cases in Shigatse and 2 cases in ali'gar county. Conclusion: Acupuncture therapy can improve the blood oxygen saturation of the people who rush into the plateau, and it is beneficial to adjust the adaptability of the people who rush into the plateau.
