Objective: To probe into the relationship between the expression level of folate receptor alpha(FRA)in TNBC tumors and clinicopathologic features. Methods:Ninety pathological paraffin blocks of triple negative breast cancer patients from our hospital from January 2010 to January 2013 were selected. The expression of FRA in the cancer tissues and paracancerous tissues from the Ninety pathological paraffin blocks from triple negative breast cancer patients were detected using immunohistochemistry. The relationship between FRA positive expression and age, tumor size, lymph node status,TNM stages and five-year survival rate was analyzed. Results:The expression rate of FRA in triple-negative breast cancer tissues was significantly higher than that in adjacent tissues(Among them, the expression rate of FRA in cancer tissues was up to 72.22%,while that in paracancerous tissues was only3.33%),showing a statistical meaning(P<0.01);Among triple negative breast cancer patients,FRA positive expression was not related to age of patients and tumor size(P >0.05);Among triple negative breast cancer patients, the positive expression of FRA was positively correlated with lymph node metastasis and TNM stage(P < 0.05);Among triple negative breast cancer patients, the positive expression of FRA was negatively correlated with their 5-year survival rate(P < 0.05).Conclusion: The expression of FRA in the cancer tissues of patients with triple-negative breast cancer is more positive than that in the adjacent tissues. The positive expression level of FRA in cancer tissues of triple negative breast cancer patients is positively correlated with lymph node metastasis and tumor histologic stages, and is negatively correlated with the 5-year survival rate of patients. The expression of FRA may serve as an important indicator for estimating the five-year survival rate of triple-negative breast cancer patients, providing a certain reference value for their prognosis.Furthermore, the high expression of FRA in triple-negative breast cancer patients indicates that it may serve as a potential therapeutic target for triple-negative breast cancer.
