Study Of The Effect Of Mandala Painting Therapy On Benefit Finding For Family Caregivers Of Cancer Patients

Objective:To understand the current state of benefit finding for caregivers of cancer patients,and to explore the application effect of mandala painting therapy on benefit finding,so as to improve the level of benefit finding for caregivers of cancer patients and promote the physical and mental health of caregivers.Methods:The study was designed as an asynchronous controlled trial.76 family caregivers of cancer patients from a third class a hospital in Jingzhou from December 2018 to February 2019 were selected as the control group,and Family caregivers of 76 hospitalized cancer patients from march to May 2019 were included in the experimental group.The control group received routine health education,and the experimental group received mandala painting therapy on the basis of the control group twice a week,50 minutes each time,8 times in total,lasting 1 month.The level of benefit discovery among family caregivers of cancer patients was assessed before and after intervention by the revised Chinese version of the Benefit Finding Scale.Results:(1)Total score of benefit finding for family caregivers of cancer patients is(67.50±5.24).The scores of acceptance,family relationship,personal growth,social relationship and healthy behavior each dimension are(8.85±2.23),(19.66±2.33),(21.12±3.22),(8.90±1.86),(8.97 ± 1.61)respectively.(2)Comparison of benefit finding scores between the two groups before the intervention:There was no statistically significant difference in the total score and scores of each dimension between the experimental group and the control group before the intervention(P>0.05).(3)Comparison of benefit finding scores between the two groups after the intervention:After intervention,the total score and the scores of acceptance,family relationship and personal growth in the experimental group were all higher than those in the control group,with statistically differences(P<0.05).Conclusion:There was a lower level of benefit finding among family caregivers of cancer patients.Mandala painting therapy can improve the level of benefit finding for family caregivers of cancer patients,especially in terms of acceptance,family relationships,and personal growth.
