Objective:Patients with temporal lobe epilepsy(TLE)have executive dysfunction.There are different damage in the executive function between left and right TLE patients.However,the exact pathogenesis is still unknowed.In this research,based on the graph theory,we aimed to study the executive function change of TLE and its relationship with the nodal characteristic of brain functional network using attention network test(ANT)and rest-state functional magnetic resonance image(rs-fMRI).Method:20 left TLE patients(ITLE)?23 right TLE patients(rTLE)and 19 healthy controls(HC)were enrolle.There are no difference between the lateralized TLE and HC in the age,gender or educational time.All of the patients and controls underwent ANT and rs-fMRI scanning.Executive function was calculated by the reaction time in the ANT.Brain functional network at rest were extrated utilizing Gretna.The nodal characteristics(betweenness centrality,BC;degree centrality,DC and nodal effiency,Ne)were calculated and compared between tha lateralized TLE and HC.The correlation were analyzed between the values of nodal characteristics and the executive function.Results:compared with the controls,executive reantion time was significantly more than the HC,which suggesting that the executive function was only impaired in rTLE patients(P=0.001).The 1TLE patients showed significant decrease of BC in left middle and inferior temporal gyrus and bilateralized mesial suprior frontal gyrus,but significant increase in right middle temporal gyrus.DC value was lower in right Precuneus,left hippocampal,thalamus.There were increased DC and Ne values in right superior frontal gyrus.We found decreased BC value in right inferior frontial opercular and obital part,right middle temporal gyrus,right hippocampal and right parahippocampal,while increased in right hippocampus in rTLE patients.The DC and Ne value of the right middle temporal gyrus were decreased.Ne value was higher in left posterior cingulum.For rTLE patients,the DC and Ne value of right dorsolateral superior frontal gyrus were positively correlated with the executive function(P<0.05).Conclusions:Both 1TLE and rTLE showed altered nodal characteristics of the brain network.Compared with the healthy person,the executive function of rTLE patients might be more vulnerable to be impaired.there might be the right side as the dominant side for the executive network.Right dorsolateral superior frontal gyrus might play an important role in the compensated sourse for executive function of TLE patients.
