Objective:To investigate the correlation between serum cystatin C(Cys C)and mild cognitive impairment(MCI)in elderly patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM).Methods:A total of 153 elderly patients with T2 DM were randomly selected and assessed using Mini-mental state examination(MMSE).86 patients in the T2 DM cognitive normal group(NC group)and 67 cases in the T2 DM mild cognitive impairment group(MCI Group).Collect general data of patients, detect clinical biochemical indicators and related complications such as blood glucose, blood pressure, blood lipids, liver and kidney function, and Cys C,and compare the differences between the two groups. Results:The serum Cys C level(mg/L)in the MCI group(1.34 ± 0.28)was higher than that in the NC group(0.84 ± 0.27),and the difference was statistically significant(P <0.05).MMSE,age,years of education, smoking, aortic sclerosis, duration of diabetes, free fatty acids, uric acid, fasting blood glucose, glycated serum protein, glycated hemoglobin, triglycerides, total cholesterol, albumin and globulin were significantly different between groups(all P<0.05).Pearson correlation analysis showed that there was a significant positive correlation between Cys C and age, glycated hemoglobin, free fatty acids, globulin, fasting blood glucose, glycated serum protein,(P <0.05);There was a significant negative correlation between Cys C and triglycerides, total cholesterol, albumin,MMSE score(all P <0.05);logistic regression analysis showed that course of diabetes,Cys C and free fatty acids are risk factors for mild cognitive impairment in elderly patients with type 2diabetes(all P <0.05);years of education and total cholesterol are protective factors for mild cognitive impairment in elderly patients with type 2 diabetes(all P <0.05).Conclusion:Serum Cys C is a risk factor for mild cognitive impairment in elderly patients with type 2 diabetes.
