PurposeTo evaluate the clinical outcome of CyberKnife stereotactic body radiotherapy(SBRT)for patients with stage I non-small cell lung cancer(NSCLC).Methods39 patients with stage I NSCLC who refused surgery or medically inoperable were treated with CyberKnife stereotactic body radiotherapy in Jinan Military General Hospital from June 2013 to July 2015.Short-term efficacy was evaluated by solid tumor's effect evaluation criterion of World Health Organization(WHO)after radiotherapy and to calculation the overall survival rate and local control rate of 1-year,2-year.The acute radiation related side-effects,such as radiation pneumonitis, cough, chest pain, cough, fatigue, dyspnea were evaluated by criterion of RTOG acute injury grade standard.SPSS17.0 statistical software was applied for data analysis. The Kaplan–Meier method was used to analyze local control and overall survival. The log-rank method was used to test the significance compared with the survival curves. The survival time was from the date when CyberKnife was used in the treatment.P value < 0.05 was considered statistically significant.ResultsThe median follow-up duration was 16 months and the follow-up rate was 100 %.The median prescription dose was 48 Gy in 4 fractions(range,45 to 60 Gy in 3-8 fractions). The dose was prescribed on 76% isodose line(range,68% to 85 %).All patients completed the treatment successfully. The local control rate(CR+PR)was 84.6%,The 1-,2-year local control rates were 94.3% and 87.0%.The 1-,2-year overall survival rates were 94.1% and85.0%.No Grade?and Grade? acute toxicity were observed.Treatment related chronic Grade ? toxicity occurred in 2 patients(5.1%).ConclusionCyberknife stereotactic body radiotherapy can be effectively and safely performed for Stage I NSCLC patients with acceptable toxicity.
