Background:In the recent years,injury has been a worldwide public health problem,and it is one of the major causes of death all over the world.Previous studies have identified that injury is an issue with high prevalence,high mortality and disability,and it not only expends many health resources,but also takes huge economic burden to individuals,families and society.Recently,injury monitoring has been applied to prevent and control injury in many countries.In China,the national injury monitoring system was launched in 2006 by department of chronic non-communicable diseases prevention in Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention.The monitor system in Jiaozhou city was based on this system,but the collected data was not analyzed in previous years.In the current study,we aim to explore the epidemic study of injury and analyze the factors associated with the severity of injury in Jiaozhou city.Objective:To explore the epidemiological characteristics of injury in Jiaozhou in 2017 based on the data from the monitoring system,and we also aim to analyze the factors associated with the severity of injury,and make the strategies for injury prevention and control.Materials and Method:The data analyzed in the current study was from the injury monitoring system in Jiaozhou city from January 1 to December 31,201 7,and we analyzed the data by description analysis,single analysis and logistic analysis.Result:1.In 2017,a total of 12,234 cases of injuries were reported among residents in Jiaozhou city,and the overall incidence of injuries was 14.39‰.For the gender distribution,the prevalence among males were higher than females,and the gender ratio was 1.99:1.We also found that the highest prevalence was in people aged from 45 to 59 years.The another associated factors were junior high schools,engaging in agriculture,animal husbandry,fishing and water conservation.2.For the month distribution,July,August and September were in higher level of prevalence than other months.In addition,the injury mainly happened from 8 a.m.to 10 a.m.3.The top 5 causes of injury are motor vehicle accident,animal injury,fall,blunt instrument injury,knife/sharp instrument injury.4.The top 3 locations for injuries were roads/streets,homes,industrial or construction sites.The injuries occurred primarily during recreational activities,drive or take vehicles and work.5.From the classification of the injury intention,the rank was unintentional,intentional injury,self-harm/suicide.6.The clinical characteristics of injuries are sharp instrument injury,bite injury,open injury,contusion,scratch and concussion,and the top 3 body parts were head,upper and lower limbs.Observation,hospital transfer and hospitalization were the most common methods to treat injury.7.Factors associated with severity of injury were gender,age,cause,location,activity,self-injury/suicide intention.Suggestion:1.For traffic injuries,some strategies should be made in the society;2.For pet injuries,management should be strengthened;3.Education on production safety can be used to prevent injury;4.Some intervention may be helpful to reduce the violence injury and suicide/self-harm;5.Building safe communities and harmonious society.
