Objective Through the experimental research to study the effects of different surface treatments on the bonding strength of novel self-glazed zirconia ceramics and finally find the suitable methods to provide a reference for the clinical treatment.Method 60 blocks of self-glazed zirconia disc specimens(φ×h=4×4mm)were manufactured, among which 42 specimens were randomly selected in the first experiment and then divided into 7 groups(n=6)while the remaining 18 specimens were randomly divided into 3 groups(n=6)in the second experiment.Experiment 1:A-No treatment;B-The surface mesh density was 0.03mm;C-The surface mesh density was 0.06mm;D-The surface mesh density was 0.10mm;E-Sandblasted with Al2O3 particle;F-Irradiated with Er:YAG laser;G-A performed porous nanoceramic bonding surface treatment.According to different surface treatment,self-glazed zirconia disc specimens of each group was bonded to the prefabricated resin blocks by an universal dual-cure resin cement(NX3).After 24h of constant temperature water bath, shear adhesion strength(SBS)of each specimen were tested by an electronic and the surface morphology and fracture pattern were observed by scanning electron microscope(SEM).The obtained experimental data were statistically analyzed by One Way ANOVA with a 5%significance level(SPSS 19.0).Experiment 2:The remaining self-glazed zirconia disc specimens were randomly divided into 3 groups as follows:A-No treatment;B-Sandblasted with Al2O3 particle;C-A performed porous nanoceramic bonding surface treatment.18 isolated tooth(healthy premolars)which were extracted due to orthodontics were collected and was cut into dentin specimens by removing the root and enamel layer. Then the following procedures were identical with the first experiment:After bonding the self-glazed zirconia disc specimens and dentin specimens, the shear bonding strength was tested and the experimental data were analyzed by One Way ANOVA with a 5%significance level.Result1.The values of shear bond strength of groups with different surface mesh density in 0.03mm,0.06mm and 0.10mm were similar to the control group without statistically significance(P>0.05).2.The Er:YAG laser treatment had no etching effect on the surface of self-glazed zirconia and the values of shear bond strength were similar to the control group without statistically significance(P>0.05).3.The values of shear bond strength of the sandblasting group and the nanometer processing group were both higher than values of the control group with statistically significance in the first and the second experiments(P<0.05),yet the two groups were similar without statistically significance(P>0.05).Conclusion Alumina sandblasting can roughen the surface of self-glazed zirconia ceramics and significantly enhance the bonding strength. The self-glazed zirconia with a preformed porous nanoceramic bonding surface can improve micro-mechanical interlocking and increase the bond strength to tooth, which obtains comparable shear bond force to the sandblasting.
