Objective:Jaw cyst is a common benign lesion in oral and maxillofacial surgery,the main clinical feature is slowly destroying surrounding bones.Due to the slow disease progression,with no subjective symptoms,it is hard to be found.As the disease progresses,the range of disease expands,the patient's facial appearance changes or secondary infection,it will be concerned.If the destruction of the cyst is too large,there will be a large bone cavity left after cystectomy,and increase the difficulty of postoperative denture repair,reduce the success rate of implant repair,affecting the quality of life of patients.Therefore,how to repair the post-operative bone defect safely and effectively is a problem that the oral and maxillofacial surgeon has been discussing.So far,artificial bone graft materials have become a more suitable substitute for autologous bone,which makes up for the possible complications of autologous bone graft during secondary bone removal and the insufficient supply to meet the clinical needs.In this study,we repair the bone defect by filling the postoperative cavity with Osteoset XR calcium sulfate.Measuring and comparing the postoperative response of patients at each stage,the rate of formation of new bone and the osteogenesis of bone defect area,to evaluatethe osteogenesis effect of Osteoset XR medical calcium sulfate for filling and repairing bone cavity after jaw cyst operation.Methods:150 cases of jaw cysts were collected from September 2017 to September2019 in oral and maxillofacial surgery of Dalian Stomatology Hospital.Fourty eligible cases were screened according to the case inclusion criteria.The minimum diameter of the cyst shown in all the included cases in the preoperative cbct ?2 cm,the patient general data(age,sex,specialist examination results)and the patient imaging data(cyst size,adjacent anatomical structure,hu value)were recorded in detail.The collected cases were divided into two groups according to whether the Osteoset XR medical calcium sulfate was filled in the bone defect area: the group A was the Osteoset XR medical calcium sulfate group,a total of 20 cases,;The group B was the blank group filled by blood clot after jaw cyst excision,a total of 20 cases.Observe and record the swelling of soft tissue after operation;Using the density function of CBCT software to measure and record the relative bone density of bone defect area before operation,6th months and 12 th month after operation.Using the SPSS statistical software to test the two groups of measured data t independent samples and compare the repair effects of each group of bone defects.Results:All 40 patients were reexamined on time,the bone damages caused by the cyst were all repaired after surgical treatment.The mean relative bone mineral density values were-71.60±24.54?267.80±38.09?799.55±51.06 in A group with intraoperative filling in 6th and 12 th month after operation,while-83.95±26.80?116.45±24.24?268.75±52.23 in group B.Comparing the relative bone mineral density by independent sample test after 6th and 12 th month of operation,new bone formation in group B is much slower than in group A.Except for 2 cases of material rejection in group A,A?B group of cases did not have pathological fracture,operative area perception of postoperative complications.In group A,the soft tissue swelling obviously,and gradually relieved after one week.In group B,the soft tissue swelling in the operation area was not obvious.Conclusion : In terms of osteogenesis rate and osteogenesis quality,the cases with filling of medical calcium sulfate were significantly faster than those without filling of any materials;Osteoset XR medical calcium sulfate,as a low-cost,safe and reliable artificial bone replacement material,can promote the formation of new bone and greatly shorten the time of bone healing.Using CBCT and its own software to measure and analyze the relative average bone density of bone defect areas in different periods is a simple and effective method to evaluate the osteogenesis effect.
