ObjectiveCough variant asthma(CVA)is a special type of asthma which chronic cough is the main clinical manifestation.CVA is one of the most important causes of chronic cough in China and around the world. In China, about 14%-33%of chronic cough patients may be patients of CVA.At present, the commonly used clinical treatment to CVA is the inhalation of glucocorticoids, which has many disadvantages, such as adverse reactions, relapse after drug withdrawal and so on.In the clinical practice of many countries, myofascial trigger points(MTrPs)injection has been used in non-painful diseases for many years, and has achieved good results in many kind of diseases. Therefore,we hope to explore a new way and mechanism for CVA treatment through this study.MethodAccording to the CVA diagnostic criteria issued by the Chinese Medical Association,16 patients who voluntarily participated in the study. We palpate and locate the trigger points on the sternocleidomastoid muscle, trapezius muscle and other muscles in the neck and face, and then the trigger points were injected with potion.Record and analyze the population characteristics, past medical history, allergen situation, visual analog scale(VAS)and adverse reactions before and after treatment, and evaluate the efficacy and safety of trigger point injection for CVA treatment.ResultThe cough and other symptoms of CVA patients after the trigger injection were lower than those before treatment(P<0.01),and no serious adverse reactions occurred.ConclusionMTrPs injection can be used to treat CVA,which can achieve good therapeutic effect, and no serious adverse reactions were found.
