Objective: To investigate the correlation between macrophage mobile inhibitory factor(MIF)and atrial remodeling in atrial fibrillation(AF),and to provide new methods and ideas for clinical prevention and treatment of myocardial fibrosis.Methods:In this study,134 patients with atrial fibrillation admitted to our hospital from January 2019 to December 2019 were selected as the atrial fibrillation group.According to the disease characteristics,the atrial fibrillation group was divided into 3 subgroups: paroxytic AF group(29 cases),persistent AF group(51 cases)and permanent AF group(54 cases).During the same period,54 healthy volunteers who underwent physical examination in our hospital were selected as the control group.The left atrium diameter(LV)was measured by color doppler ultrasound in patients and healthy volunteers in each group.The contents of MIF,collagen I and collagen III in serum were determined by ELISA.Results:Compared with the normal control group,the left atrial diameter in the AF group and each subgroup of AF increased significantly(P<0.05).Moreover,the left atrial diameter increased with the increase of the severity of the disease among the subgroups,and the paroxysmal AF group was significantly smaller than the persistent AF group and the permanent AF group(P<0.05),and the difference between the persistent AF group and the permanent AF group was not significant(P>0.05),indicating that the myocardial morphology of patients with atrial fibrillation changed.Serum levels of MIF,PICP and PIIINP in the AF group and each subgroup of AF were significantly higher than those in the control group(P<0.05).The serum levels of MIF,PICP and PIIINP increased with the increase of the severity of the disease among each subgroup,and the differences between the three subgroups were significant(P<0.05).After correlation analysis,left atrial diameter was positively correlated with serum MIF,PICP and PIIINP levels(rMIF=0.7050,rPICP =0.6954,rPIIINP=0.6816).All P <0.01).Conclusion: MIF,PICP and PIIINP may play a role in the development of AF by participating in the alteration of atrial structure in patients with AF.
