Objective: To evaluate the application value of biological mesh in the tension-free repair of inguinal hernia. Methods: The clinical data of 95 sides(82 patients)with inguinal hernia repair in The First Affiliated Hospital of Xinjiang Medical University from August 2018 to September 2019 were retrospectively analyzed.According to different mesh materials used in the operation, they were divided into two groups: observation group(n=46)used biological mesh, control group(n=49)used self-gripping mesh. The operation time, recovery time of daily activities, postoperative fever, incision related complications, chronic pain, seroma, foreign body sensation, recurrence, mesh infection, spermatic cord testicular related complications were compared and analyzed. Results: The operation was successfully completed in both groups, with a follow-up period of 3-16 months and a median follow-up period of 9 months.During the follow-up period, there were no recurrence, mesh infection, testicular atrophy, ejaculatory pain and other serious complications in both groups. There was no fever with body temperature higher than 38.5 ? and incision related complications in both groups. There was no significant difference between the two groups in operation time, recovery of daily activities, chronic pain, seroma and foreign body sensation(P > 0.05).The incidence of total postoperative complications in the observation group was lower than that in the control group(P < 0.05).Conclusion: The application of biological mesh in the tension-free repair of inguinal hernia is safe and effective, and it has some advantages in reducing the short-term postoperative complications.
