Objective: The pathological nature of lymphatic malformations is unclear.Lymphangitic malformations may present as an isolated or diffuse lesion,as part of a mixed vascular lesion,or as an important etiology of various hypergrowth syndromes.Lymphatic malformations of the oral and maxillofacial region are often associated with changes in appearance and function.Clinical operation and sclerosing agent treatment are common,postoperative complete remission is rare.The pathogenesis of lymphatic malformation is not completely clear.At present,studies have found that the important factors related to the occurrence of this disease are VEGF-C,VEGF-D,VEGFR-3,ANG,END,PF-4 and COX-2.In recent years,it has been found that PI3 K mediated PI3K/AKT signaling pathway can promote the expression and secretion of VEGF-C through downstream molecules,both of which are involved in the generation and metastasis of lymphatic vessels in tumors.In this study,the expression of PI3 K and VEGF-C in oral and maxillofacial lymphatic malformations was further discussed on the basis of existing studies,so as to provide references for etiological studies of lymphatic malformations and guide clinical treatment.Methods: In this study,35 cases of lymphatic vessel malformation and 10 cases of normal lymphatic tissue were selected from the oral and maxillofacial surgery ward of shengjing hospital affiliated to China medical university during 2009-2014.Immunohistochemical S-P method was used to detect the expression of PI3 K and VEGF-C in 35 cases of lymphatic malformation and 10 cases of normal lymphoid tissue.Results: The positive rate of PI3 K expression in lymphatic malformations was 80.00%(28/35);the positive rate of VEGF-C was 88.57%(31/35),and the positive rate of PI3 K expression in normal lymphoid tissues was 0%(0/ 10);VEGF-C positive rate was 0%(0/10),the difference between the two positive rates was significant P <0.05).The positive expressions of PI3 K and VEGF-C in lymphatic malformation and normal lymphatic tissue were statistically significant.Conclusion: PI3 K and VEGF-C may be involved in the proliferation of endothelial cells of lymphatic malformation.
