Objective:To investigate the effect of different gland backgrounds and nodule sizes on the elasticity of papillary thyroid carcinoma(PTC).Methods:Retrospective analysis of 98 cases of PTC patients with 132 nodules confirmed by surgery pathology in the first affiliated hospital of China medical university,on the basis of conventional paraffin and immunohistochemical pathology were included in our study.According to the background of the thyroid gland the nodules were divided into normal group and Hashimoto's thyroiditis(HT)background group(66 cases),within each group according to the size of the lesions are divided into>1 cm and?1 cm(each 25 cases and 41 cases). All patients underwent real-time shear wave elastography(SWE)and the quantitative elasticity index of each group were measured and analyzed, including the maximum and average. Results:There were no statistically significant differences in the maximum and average quantitative elasticity index of the nodules between the sexes(P > 0.05).The maximum and average quantitative elasticity index of nodules in the normal background were(69.65±50.65)k Pa and(57.54±40.25)k Pa,respectively. The maximum and average quantitative elasticity index of nodules in the HT background were(62.72±42.29)k Pa and(50.78±32.33)k Pa,respectively. There was no statistical difference between the two groups in the maximum and average quantitative elasticity index(P>0.05).The maximum and average quantitative elasticity index of the greater nodules(>1cm)were(91.80±64.56)k Pa,(72.64±50.30)k Pa,and the maximum and average quantitative elasticity index of the lesser nodules(?1cm)were(50.57±18.46)k Pa,(42.89±16.95)k Pa,respectively. The differences in the maximum and average quantitative elasticity index of the two groups were statistically significant(P<0.001).There was no statistically significant difference between the elastic values of the greater and lesser nodules in the two backgrounds(P>0.05).The elastic values of normal background and HT background under different nodules were statistically different(P<0.05).Conclusion:1.Gender has no effect on the elasticity of PTC;2.There was no significant difference in the elastic value of PTC between the normal background and the HT background;3.The size of nodules has an influence on the elastic value, and the quantitative elasticity index of the greater nodules is greater than that of the lesser nodules;4.There was no difference in the elastic values of the greater and lesser nodules under the two backgrounds;5.The elastic values of normal background and HT background under different nodules were significantly different.
