Objective To evaluated the value of the application of 3D printing technology in corrective surgery of severe spinal deformity, this paper retrospectively analyzed the existing cases of patients with descending spinal deformity assisted by 3D printing technology. Methods According to the inclusion and exclusion criteria,a total of 30 patients, including 11 males and 19 females, were enrolled in the orthopedics department of our hospital from January 2016 to February 2018.The selected patients with severe spinal deformity were treated with 3D printing technology, aged 8 to 61(26.67 ± 17.75)years.According to its etiology,19 cases were congenital,3 cases of trauma,6 cases of infectious diseases,2 cases of degenerative spinal deformity;7 cases of thoracic vertebrae,18 cases of thoracolumbar segment,5 cases of lumbar vertebrae;8 cases of spinal cord compression before operation, and the rest are treated with discomfort such as low back pain and difficulty in breathing. The intraoperative bleeding, intraoperative fluoroscopy, complications, drainage,Cobb angle before and after surgery, operation time,VAS score,ODI and other indicators were analyzed. Results Data is analyzed and processed by SPSS17.0 software, the operation time was between 195 and 300(238.33±21.11)minutes,the intraoperative blood loss was between 545 and 950(691.67±84.34)ml,and the perioperative blood transfusion volume was between 300 and 600(430.00±91.54)ml.The number of fluoroscopy was between 6 and 9(6.97±0.77)times,and the postoperative drainage was between170 and 450(335.67±66.32)ml.There were 2 cases of poor wound healing and 1 case of pulmonary infection complicated with pleural effusion. There were no complications such as internal fixation loosening, cerebrospinal fluid leakage, and nerve injury. The kyphosis Cobb angles were: 90.23±10.63° vs 25.47±4.11°,and the correction rate was 71.60±3.79.%,and the Cobb angles of the scoliosis before and after surgery were 86.60±9.48° vs 22.80±5.13°,the correction rate was 73.27±5.19%,the degree of lateral and kyphosis correction was statistical difference(P<0.05).The VAS scores before and after surgery were 7.80±1.22 vs 1.47±0.63,and the scores of pre-operation and postoperation were statistically difference(P<0.05).The preoperative and postoperative ODI indexes were 87.87%±5.39% vs 25.59±3.21% respectively, and the functional index was statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion The severe spinal deformity is complicated, the operation is difficult, the risk is high, and the complications are serious. The 3D printed model can be used to learn more about the condition, preoperative simulation and intraoperative guidance, which can reduce the incidence of complications and intraoperative fluoroscopy, shorten the operation time, and a good surgical effect is achieved,so the technique is worthy of being promoted in the correction of severe spinal deformity.
