Objective:To investigate the correlation beween the insertion depth of the left-sided double-lumen tube(DLT)and some specific body landmakers,height,in order to provide a guidance for the left-sided DLT intubation.Methods:95 adult patients under thoracic surgery were choosen,the patients'age(A),sex(F/M),height(H),weight(W),cricothyroid membrane-to-the upper notch of the sternum angle distance(L),the sizes of the left-sided DLT(Fr)and the predicted depth of intubation(y)were recorded.After anesthesia induction,the final correctin sertion depth of the left-sided DLT(Y)were confirmed with the fiberoptic scope(FOB).The final correction sertion depth and the predicted depth were compared.Linear regression and correlation were used to analyze the data.Result:There was no difference between the final sertion depth of the left-sided DLT and the predicted depth(P>0.05).The depth of the left-sided DLT was significantly correlated with height,weight and cricothyroid membrane-to-the upper notch of the sternum angle distance(P<0.01),and was not correlated with age(P>0.05).The height and the insertion depth of the left-sided DLT were linearly dependent,and the determination coefficient R~2=0.43;The cricothyroid membrane-to-the upper notch of the sternum angle distance was linearly related to the insertion depth of the left-sided DLT,and the determination coefficient R~2=0.41.In addition,we got three linear regression equations:the height and the cricothyroid membrane-to-the upper notch of the sternum angle distance was taken as the independent variable,and the left DLT intubation depth was used as the dependent variable,respectively.Conclusion:The linear regression equation which uses the height and the cricothyroid membrane-to-the upper notch of the sternum angle distance as the independent variable,simultaneously,and the left DLT intubation depth is the dependent variable,can be a rapid method to assess the insertion depth of the left-sided DLT.However,the ideal insertion depth of insertion of the left-sided DLT still needs to be confirmed by the fiberoptic bronchoscope.
