A Retrospective Study Of Fudus Imaging Features In New-onset Active VKH Disease

Purpose:Combined with optical coherence tomography(OCT)and fluorescein fundus angiography(FFA)to study the characteristics of the initial acute phase VKH fundus imaging.Methods:A cross-sectional study based on clinical fundus imaging.Retrospective analysis of 21 patients(42 eyes)with initial acute VKH in our hospital from July 2016 to January 2019.The clinical data mainly included gender,age of onset,and best corrected visual acuity(BCVA)at the onset of the disease,fundus examination under the dilated pupils,OCT,FFA,etc,the characteristics of OD type and RD type were compared and analyzed.Results:A total of 21 patients(42 eyes)with acute onset of VKH,the overall age of24-59 years,mean(42.4 ± 10.8)years.A total of 13 males(26 eyes),aged 24 to 59 years,mean(42.7 ± 11.2)years old.Eight women(16 eyes),aged 26 to 55 years,mean(42.0 ±9.6)years old.There was a difference between the two types and gender(P=0.01).There was a difference between the two types and the initial BCVA(P=0.04).The RPE layer folds were different between the two types(P=0.041).In the fundus examination,there were 35 eyes(83.3%)with radial wrinkles of the macula and optic disc,27 eyes(64.3%)with optic disc swelling,and 21 eyes(50%)with retinal bulge.In OCT,42 eyes had neuroepithelial fluids,ILM wave-like changes in 36 eyes(85.7%),RPE folds in 32 eyes(76.2%),and macular vesicular retinal detachment in 27 eyes(64.3%)),20 eyes of the subretinal cystoid structure(47.6%),PED 0 eyes(0%).In FFA,42 eyes had pinpoint strong fluorescence in the early-phase and subretinal fluorescence accumulation in the late-phase,34 eyes(81.0%)with high fluorescence of optic disc and 18 eyes(42.9%)with multilobular pools of dye.Conclusions: 1.There are differences in the two types of VKH in the initial acute phase.2.OD type tends to be female,and RD type tends to be male.3.The vision damage of OD type is lighter.4.The RPE layer wrinkles have a higher incidence in the OD type.
