Objective: To explore the statistical significance of prognosis of patients with thoracolumbar spinal tumors(TLST)under the influence of different risk factors. Methods: We retrospectively collect clinical data(age?benign or malignant?diameter?preoperative European Myelopathy score(EMS)?onset duration?electrophysiological monitor(EPM)of 113 patients from The First Affiliated Hospital of China Medical University between 1st September,2016 and 31 st January,2018.There are two steps in statistical analysis.First,we did a single factor analysis to find out the factors that are statistically significant for the postoperative neurological functions. Then,we did a multivariable analysis so as to clarify the independent risk factor,The data is analyzed with spss23.0,logistic regression analysis.Result: Among the overall 113 patients,74(65.5%)of them achieved an improvement in neurological function, while 39 of them did not improve. In univariable analysis:benign or malignant?preoperative EMS?electrophysiological monitor(EPM)?excision percentage?diameter?onset duration?location of tumor?type of health insurance. In multivariable analys: intramedullary tumor(P=0.016;OR=3.930)? malignant tumor(P=0.023;OR=5.275)?diameter?2cm(P=0.021;OR=3.611)are risk factors for the improvement of postoperative neurological functions.Preoperative EMS(European myelopathy score)?16(P=0.012;OR=0.237)?onset time<1 month(P=0.031;OR=0.294)?using Electrophysiological monitoring(P=0.018;OR=0.263)are protective factors for the improvement of postoperative neurological functions. Conclusion: We should take overall aspects into considerations to set up specific individual treatment plan due to the various kinds of risk factors that might influence the postoperative neurological functions so as to aquire a better outcome for patients.New rural cooperative medical insurance pattern may be a risk factor for poor postoperative neurological outcome which remains to be verified in the future on a lager scale of patients.
