Objective: To evaluate the correlation between anxiety and depression in female patients with melasma in different mental states and the characteristics of melasma through questionnaires and observation of clinical features of melasma.Analysis risk factors for anxiety and depression in patients with melasma.Provide effective data for mental intervention and psychological treatment to patients with melasma. Methods: A total of 125 female patients with melasma diagnosed inXXX were involved. The diagnostic criteria of melasma were based on the clinical diagnosis and efficacy criteria of melasma formulated by the pigology group of the dermatovenereal diseases professional committee of the Chinese academy of integrated traditional and western medicine. The characteristics of the skin lesions were recorded and the severity of melasma was calculated.General information of patients, including age, course of disease, and information related to the onset of disease, including treatment history, history of other diseases, late sleeping habits, correlation of mental factors, and quality of life, were collected by issuing questionnaires. At the same time, the anxiety and depression scores of the patients were calculated by self-rating anxiety scale and self-rating depression scale. For all patients under investigation and those already in the state of anxiety or depression, linear regression was used to analyze the linear correlation between the characteristics of melasma and anxiety and depression scores, and Logistics regression was used to analyze the possible risk factors of anxiety and depression in melasma patients. Results: We collected 96 questionnaires. The average anxiety and depression scores of patients with melasma investigated were higher than the average level of normal people in China(p<0.05).By linear regression analysis, melasma overall anxiety and depression scores of patients and patients with melasma clinical course and the quality of life in patients with self evaluation of routine linear correlation,in which the dependent variable of anxiety when both standard regression coefficients were respectively-0.201,-0.282,p<0.05,the dependent variable was depressed when the standard regression coefficient,respectively,-0.272,-0.357,p<0.05,with statistical significance. In patients with melasma who are already in an anxious state, the anxiety score is linearly correlated with the Modified Melasma Area Severity Index, and the standard regression coefficient is 0.448,p<0.05,which is statistically significant.Among the depressed patients, the depression score showed a linear correlation with the patients' self-evaluation of quality of life, and the standard regression coefficient was-0.646,which is statistically significant.According to the causes of anxiety and depression in melasma by Logistics regression analysis, the combination of systemic diseases is a common risk factor for anxiety and depression in patients with melasma,of which the OR of anxiety is 2.784 and the OR of depression is 2.593,p<0.05,which is statistically significant. Conclusions: The level of anxiety and depression of melasma patients was higher than that of normal people in China. The overall level of anxiety of patients was negatively correlated with the course of disease and their self-evaluation of quality of life, while the overall level of depression of patients was correlated with their self-evaluation of quality of life. For patients in the state of anxiety, the severity of anxiety is positively correlated with the severity of melasma, while for patients in the state of depression, the severity of depression is negatively correlated with the evaluation of patients' quality of life. The combination of systemic diseases may be a risk factor for depression and anxiety in patients with melasma.
