Objective(1)To observe the change of neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio(NLR)in patients with metabolic syndrome.(2)Understand the factors that affect the NLR.(3)Understand the relationship between NLR and target organ damage in patients with metabolic syndrome. Methods In this experiment,164 subjects were selected.Among them, there were 55 cases in the normal control group,50 cases in the metabolic syndrome group(MS group)and 59 cases in the metabolic syndrome combined with hypertension group(HMS group). All subjects were required to measure height, weight, abdominal circumference and blood pressure under the same conditions, and BMI was calculated according to the standard formula.Peripheral white blood cell count(WBC),neutrophil absolute value(NEUT),lymphocyte absolute value(LYM),fasing plasma glucose(FPG),triglyceride(TG),total cholesterol(TC),high-density lipoprotein cholesterol(HDL-C),low-density lipoprotein cholesterol(LDL-C),creatinine(Scr)were measured in all subjects in the morning fasting state.Neutrophil/lymphocyte ratio(NLR)and glomerular filtration rate(eGFR)were calculated by standard formula.Carotid intima-media thickness(IMT)was measured by color Doppler ultrasound under the same conditions. The end-diastolic diameter(LVDd),interventricular septal end-diastolic thickness(IVST),left ventricular posterior wall end-diastolic thickness(LVPWT)andejection fraction(EF)were measured by color echocardiography.Left ventricular mass index(LVMI)was calculated according to standard formula. All data were processed and analyzed by SPSS22.0 statistical software.Results(1)There was no significant difference in age and sex between the control group,MS group and HMS group(P ? 0.05).Compared with the control group,BMI,abdominal circumference,SBP,DBP,TG,TC,LDL-C,FPG increased and HDL-C decreased in MS group and HMS group(P<0.05).Compared with the MS group, the SBP and DB of the HMS group were further increased(P<0.05).(2)There were significant differences in NEUT,LYM and NLR between the control group,MS group and HMS group(P<0.05).Compared with the control group,NEUT and NLR in MS group and HMS group were significantly increased, and LYM was significantly decreased(P<0.05).Compared with the MS group, the NLR of the HMS group was further increased(P<0.05).(3)The linear correlation analysis between NLR and the components of metabolic syndrome showed that NLR was positively correlated with SBP,DBP,FPG,TG,BMI(P<0.05);there was no significant correlation between NLR and age, gender, abdominal circumference,TC,HDL-C,LDL-C(P>0.05).Logistic regression analysis of NLR showed that TG and DBP were positively correlated with NLR(P<0.05).(4)There were differences in LVDd,IVST,LVPWT,LVMI,EF,Scr,eGFR and IMT in the control group,MS group and HMS group(P<0.05).Compared with the control group,LVDd,IVST,LVMI,IMT increased and eGFR decreased in MS group and HMS group(P<0.05).Compared with MS group,LVDd,IVST,LVMI and IMT were further increased in HMS group, and eGFR was further decreased(P<0.05).Compared with the control group, the EF and Scr of the HMS group were decreased(P<0.05).(5)The linear correlation analysis between NLR and the target organ damage index of metabolic syndrome showed that NLR value was positively correlatedwith IVST and LVMI in patients with metabolic syndrome, and negatively correlated with EF and eGFR(P<0.05),and LVDd and LVPWT.There is no correlation between NLR and Scr,IMT(P>0.05).(6)Logistic regression analysis of NLR showed that NLR was positively correlated with LVMI and negatively correlated with eGFR(P<0.05).(7)Logistic regression analysis of LVMI and eGFR showed that NLR and SBP were positively correlated with LVMI(P<0.05).NLR,FPG and male were negatively correlated with eGFR(P<0.05).Conclusion(1)The level of NLR in patients with MS is elevated.(2)NLR in patients with metabolic syndrome can be affected by TG and DBP.(3)NLR in patients with metabolic syndrome is significantly associated with target organ damage such as left ventricular hypertrophy and reduced glomerular filtration rate.
