Comparative Study Of The Efficacy Of "Dusting Method" And "Basketing Method" In The Treatment Of Kidney Stones With Flexible Ureteroscopy

Objective: To compare the effectiveness of "Dusting method" and "Basketing method" in the treatment of kidney stones with flexible ureteroscopic holmium laser lithotripsy.Methods: The clinical data of patients who underwent ureteroscopy and holmium laser lithotripsy in our hospital from November 2017 to June 2018 was retrospectively analyzed.According to the inclusion and exclusion criteria,82 patients were selected.42 patients who used stone basket to remove stones after the stones were broken in the operation were as the “Basketing method” group.40 patients were allocated to the "Dusting method" group,whose fragments were dusted during the operation and then discharged naturally with urine.The time of operation,the stone-free rate after 1 month and 3 months,the postoperative hospital stay,the rate of postoperative complications and re-treatment between the two groups were compared.Results: There were no significant differences in gender,age,body mass index,stone diameter,CT value of stone and location of stone between the “Basketing method”group and the “Dusting method” group(P > 0.05).The operative time of the "Basketing method" group was significantly longer than the time of the "Dusting method" group(72.98±23.53 min vs 50.89±19.89 min,P<0.05).The stone-free rate of "Basketing method" group was higher than the rate of "Dusting method" group(90.50%(38/42)vs 72.50%(29/40),P<0.05).After three months the stone-free rate was compared.There was no significant difference(95.20%(40/42)vs 92.50%(37/40),P>0.05).There were no statistically significant differences in the length of hospital stay,the rate of postoperative complication and the rate of re-treatment between the two groups(P>0.05).Conclusion: By using the "Dusting method" or "Basketing method" to treat kidney stones during the flexible ureteroscopy lithtripsy,the latter method can achieve higher stone-free rate in the short term after operation.Although it extends the operative time,the risk of postoperative complications does not increase.
