Objective: The penile lichen scleroses(LS)of boys is a chronic inflammatory dermatosis with uncertain etiology.?t is histologically characterized by a zone of collagen remodeling in the superior dermis. The normal physiological property of the prepuce depends on the assembly of collagens and other extracellular matrix proteins. We aimed to assess the expressions of elastic fiber, collagen ?,collagen ?,collagen ?(COL ?,?,?)and extracellular matrix protein 1(ECM1)from boys with foreskin lichen sclerosus, normal prepuce and scar tissues. To understand the changes of extracellular matrix in boys' foreskin lichen sclerosus. Methods: Specimens of clinically diagnosed and resected LS from 9 boys, normal prepuce from 10,skin scar from 9 were HE stained to observe the typical histopathological features of foreskin LS,the expressions of elatic fiber,COL ?,?,? and ECM1 were assessed via ??G and immunohistochemical staining. To obtain the mean optical density(MOD)of each and SPSS17.0 statistical software was used for analysis. Results: The typical hyaline homogenization was shown in papillary dermis of foreskin LS.?n the foreskin LS specimens, the MOD of elastic fiber was lower than that in normal prepuce and scar group via ??G staining with significant statistical differences(P <0.05),no significance was shown between scar and normal prepuce. The expression of COL ? in LS was lower than that in normal prepuce with significant statistical differences(P <0.01),and no significance was noticed between normal prepuce and scar group. The expression of COL ? in LS was lower than that in nomal prepuce with significant statistical differences(P <0.05),and no significance was noticed between normal prepuce and scar group. The MOD of COL ? in normal group was lower than that in LS and scar group with statistical significance(P <0.05).The result of ECM1 was observed as higher MOD in nomal prepuce than that in foreskin LS specimens with statistical significance(P <0.05)and no significance was found between normal prefuce and scar group. Conclusion: The expressions of elastic fiber,COL ?,? and ECM1 in LS were lower but COL ? was higher than those in normal prepuce.?t is consistent with the clinical manifestations of LS: atrophic skin lesions. But the result was inconsisstent with those of the matrix remodeling process of adult LS,which requires further study and verification.
