Objective This study was conducted to evaluate the clinical application value of roots obturated with GuttaFlow2 canal-filling system through comparing apical sealing ability between warm vertical compaction technique and Single cone(iRoot SP)and GuttaFlow2 system. Methods The root canals of eighty-five single-rooted teeth were selected. The root cannals were prepared with ProTaper rotary instruments. The teeth were randomly divided into five groups: Group A(n=25): Thermoplasticized technique/AH Plus,Group I(n=25): single-cone technique and iRoot SP,Group G(n=25):GuttaFlow2 obturation system.Ten teeth were served as positive and negative control groups(n=5).After one week, the samples were stained and treated transparently, and the dye penetration was analyzed under a stereomicroscope. The data were analyzed using Kruskal-Wallis and Mann Whitney U test.Results(1)The dye leakage values of group G was significantly lower than those of group I(p<0.01);group G showed a lower apical microleakage compared to the group A,although the difference was not statistically(p>0.05).(2)There were statistically significant differences in the prevalence of apical dye penetration and overcharge between three groups(p<0.05);no significant differences were noted between groups in lateral root canal filling(p>0.05).(3)Group A showed the maximum obturation time when compared with the other two groups(p<0.01);the difference between Group G and Group I was not significant(p>0.05).Conclusion The GuttaFlow2 with a master cone technique seemed to has the good apical sealing ability and gave results similar to those observed with the thermoplasticized injectable obturation techniques. It shows promise as an obturation technique in clinical practice.
