Objective:To investigate the effects of probiotics on serum trimethylamine-n-oxide(TMAO)and total cholesterol(TC)in patients with atherosclerosis(AS).Methods: Sixty-nine patients with atherosclerosis who were admitted to the department of cardiovascular medicine and geriatric medicine of ****** from June 2018 to December 2018 and met the inclusion criteria were selected,which were divided into 24 patients in the routine group(AT group),22 patients in the probiotics group(PT group),and 23 patients in the routine + probiotics group(APT group).Name,gender,age,body mass index and other general information of all subjects were recorded in detail.The routine group was given healthy lifestyle guidance and atorvastatin calcium dispersible tablets(20mg,or once a night for 8 weeks).The probiotic treatment group was given healthy lifestyle guidance and bifidobacterium and lactobacillus triplex live bacteria tablets(2g,oral,3 times a day,8 weeks in total).Routine + probiotics treatment group was given healthy lifestyle guidance and atorvastatin calcium dispersible tablets(20mg,orally,once a night,8 weeks)+ bifidobacterium lactobacillus triple live tablets(2g,orally,3 times a day,8 weeks).AT group,PT group and APT group respectively drew venous blood of elbow on an empty stomach in the morning before and 8 weeks after treatment.Collect and organize data for statistical analysis.Results:(1)There was no significant difference in general data between AT group,PT group and APT group(P > 0.05).(2)Before treatment,the concentrations of TMAO and TC in serum of AT group,PT group and APT group were not statistically significant(P > 0.05).(3)After 8 weeks of treatment,the concentrations of TC in serum of the AT group decreased compared with the previous group,and the difference was statistically significant(P < 0.05).There was no change in the concentrations of TMAO in serum of the AT group,and the difference was not statistically significant(P > 0.05).After 8 weeks of treatment,the concentrations of TMAO and TC in serum of the PT group and APT group all decreased compared with the previous group,and the difference was statistically significant(P < 0.05).(4)After 8 weeks of treatment,the concentrations of TMAO and TC in serum were statistically significant differences between AT group and PT group(P < 0.05).After 8 weeks of treatment,the concentrations of TMAO and TC in serum were statistically significant differences between AT group and APT group(P < 0.05).After 8 weeks of treatment,the difference between the concentrations of TC in serum of the PT group and APT group was statistically significant(P<0.05),while the difference between the concentrations of TMAO in serum of the PT group and APT group was not statistically significant(P > 0.05).Conclusion:Live combined bifidobacterium and lactobacillus tablets can reduce the level of serum TMAO and TC in patients with AS.
