Background: At present, there are various treatment methods for achilles tendinopathy, and the clinical effects are different.Platelet-rich plasma,a potential star in biotherapy,is widely used in various fields of medicine. However, the effects of various tendon injuries have been reported to be different. The effect of platelet-rich plasma on Achilles tendinopathy has also been controversial. There are many preclinical studies and retrospective studies in this area, and there is a lack of corresponding systematic evaluation. Objective: To systemically evaluate the efficacy and safety of platelet-rich plasma for Achilles tendinopathy. Methods: The randomized controlled trials about platelet-rich plasma and Achilles tendinopathy were searched in PubMed ? EMbase ? The Cochrane Library?Medline by computer as well as in relevant journals by hand, which were reported before December 2018.Then Meta-analysis was conducted using RevMan 5.3 Software. Results and conclusion: Eight articles and six randomized controlled trials were included, and totally 229 patients were involved,114 cases inthePRP and 115 in the Control group. There was no significant difference in the VISA-A,VAS scores, and recovery of satisfactory exercise between the PRP group and the control group. The available evidence does not adequately support PRP for the treatment of Achilles tendinopathy.Because of sample-size and methodological quality restrictions, this conclusion needs further verification of large-sample,multicenter,and high-quality randomized controlled trials.
