Bipolar disorder is a common,chronic and severe mental disorder in the psychiatric department.Women with bipolar disorder is at a high-risk for relapse during pregnancy,and many factors may affect that.Psychotropic medication may be the main choice for the bipolar disorder during pregnancy,but the evidence for the safety of psychotropic medication during pregnancy is limited and uncertain.Choosing a drug for pregnant women is challenging,clinicians must weigh the risks and benefits of various drugs.It needs to fully discuss the pros and cons of continuous medication or withdrawal during pregnancy to maximize the mother and fetal safety.Psychological intervention is a useful aid in the treatment of bipolar disorder during pregnancy.Modified electroconvulsive therapy could be considered for pregnant bipolar disorder women with drug treatment resistance or ineffective,whose physical health or that of the fetus is at serious risk.Bright light therapy may be a drug-enhancing alternative to treating residual symptoms of bipolar disorder depression.The treatment of bipolar disorder during pregnancy has always been a difficult clinical problem.A lot of research and discussion have beencarried out at home and abroad.This paper focuses on the research progress of the treatment of bipolar disorder in pregnancy.
