Objectives: To investigate the value of superb micro-vascular imaging(SMI)in evaluating neovascularization in carotid atherosclerotic plaque and predicting stroke risk. Methods: A total of 50 patients with suspected cerebral infarction and carotid atherosclerotic plaque were enrolled in the Department of Neurology,Fourth Hospital of Hebei Medical University from April 20,2018 to November 5,2018.(24 patients with cerebral infarction and 26 patients with non-cerebral infarction)underwent SMI examination to analyze the neovascularization in carotid atherosclerotic plaque and evaluate its predictive value for stroke. Results: A total of 92 plaques were found in conventional carotid ultrasound, including: 25 hypoechoic plaques,30 mixed echo plaques,18 echogenic plaques, and 19 strong echo plaques. In SMI,the display rate of neovascularization in different acoustic traits from high to low is: low echo plaque, mixed echo plaque, echo plaque, strong echo plaque;hypoechoic plaque, mixed echo plaque The difference between echogenic plaque and strong echo plaque was statistically significant(P<0.05).The low echo plaque, mixed echo plaque and iso-echo plaque were compared with each other, and the difference was not statistically significant(P>0.05);There was no significant difference in carotid plaque thickness between cerebral infarction group and non-cerebral infarction group(P>0.05).The neovascular SMI score in carotid atherosclerotic plaque was higher than that in non-cerebral infarction group. The difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion:The detection of neovascularization in carotid atherosclerotic plaque by ultramicro blood flow imaging can better predict the occurrence of cerebral infarction and provide reference for further clinical treatment.
