Objective:This study intends to explore the correlation between stroke and Gray-scale median(GSM), total plaque volume(TPV) and the GSM/TPV, Gray-scale median(GSM)/total plaque volume(TPV) by using three-dimensional ultrasonography. Methods:Firstly, we will randomly select 149 patients with carotid plaque in neurology, and further removing 17 patients whose plaque are too deep-rooted that cannot be detected with QLAB-VPQ, and 25 patients without brain images. The rest 107 patients become the testing samples. The testing participants will be divided into two groups according to their brain scanning images results of CT, MRI and etc. After this step, 66 patients divided into group A, labeled as Group Stroke, and 41 patients dived into group B,labeled as Group Non-stroke. All participants will be tested to get their GSM, TPV and GSM/TPV, which is the value of Gray-scale Median (GSM) tested with the aid of QLAB-VPQ, and Total Plaque Volume (TPV). methodological statistics will be applied to analysis the correlation of GSM, TPV and GSM/TPV with stroke. We study the stroke and statistical data by using ROC curve to find the cut-off point. Results:Firstly, the rank-sum test of the GSM TPV and GSM/TPV of group A and group B, the statistic of GSM is Z= - 1.664, and P = 0.032, the statistic of TPV is Z= - 4.515,and P = 0.043, the statistic of GSM/TPV is Z= - 4.857, and P = 0.000, and the difference are statistically significant; secondly, the OR of GSM is calculated as 1.078 CI(1.024-1.135), the OR of TPV is calculated as 1.037 CI (1.019-1.056), the OR of GSM/TPV is calculated as 1.015 CI (1.007-1.024), after an unconditional logistic regression analysis According ROC curve, GSM (AUC=0.812, 95% CI:0.729?0.894, P=0.000), TPV(AUC=0.806, 95% CI:0.729?0.891,P=0.000), GSM/TPV (AUC=0.821, 95%CI:0.743?0.899, P=0.000). In this way, GSM TPV GSM/TPV could be categorized as correlated risk factors to stroke. Conclusions:GSM TPV and GSM/TPV are negatively correlated with stroke, in other words, the lower the GSM/TPV and GSM are, the higher the risk of occurring stroke, on the other hand, the bigger TPV is, the higher the risk of occurring stroke and vice versa. When TPV>69mm3 or GSM/TPV <41.7 or GSM<41.1, there is high risk for stroke.
