Objective:To study the correlation between the gingiva thickness of the maxillary anterior teeth and the morphology of the crown and gingival, and to evaluate the credibility and accuracy of the cone-beam computed tomography(CBCT)method for measuring the thickness of the gingival,To enhance clinicians' understanding of the morphology of gingival dnd crown between different gingival biotype. Methods:A total of 120 maxillary anterior teeth from 20 periodontally health volunteers were recruited in this study. The transgingival method and the CBCT were used to measure the gingival thickness at the level of 2 mm apical to the gingival margin midbuccally, and divided into thin and thick biotypes by 1 mm.The keratinized gingival width(GW)and height of the gingival papilla(PH)were measured in the mouth. The plaster model measures the crown width and length, calculates ratio of crown width to crown length(CW/CL),To compare the difference of gingival thickness measured by CBCT method and transgingival method and analyze the consistency of the two methods. The differences of CW/CL,GW and PH between the thin and thick groups were compared, and the correlation between gingival thickness and the morphology of gingival dnd crown was analyzed.Results:1.The gingival thickness measured by CBCT method was 1.23±0.27 mm,and the gingival puncture method was 1.24±0.26 mm,the difference was not statistically significant(P>0.05),and the consistency rate between the two groups was 83.33%(Kappa=0.547).2.The CW/CL in the thin gingival group(0.75 ±0.06)was smaller than that in the thick gingival group(0.82± 0.07),and the difference between the two groups was statistically significant(P<0.001).The PH in the thin gingival group(4.43±0.40mm)was significantly higher than that in the thick gingival group(3.88±0.53mm),and the difference between the two groups was statistically significant(P<0.001).The GW of the thin gingival group was 5.06 ±0.90 mm,which was less than 5.80±0.80 mm of the thick gingival group. The difference between the two groups was statistically significant(P<0.001).3.The gingival thickness was positively correlated with the GW and the CW/CL(r=0.458,P<0.001;r=0.407,P<0.001),which was negatively correlated with the PH(r=-0.329,P<0.001).The CW/CL was positively correlated with the GW(r=0.505,P<0.001).The PH was negatively correlated with the CW/CL and the GW(r=-0.333,P<0.001;r=-0.329,P < 0.001).Conclusion:1.The results of CBCT measurement of gingival thickness were consistent with the results of transgingival.2.In the thin gingival group, the CW/CL and the GW were both smaller than those in the thick gingival group, while the PH in the thin gingival group was greater than that in the thick gingival group.3.There was a positive correlation between the GT,the GW and the CW/CL,while the PH was negatively correlated with the above indicators.
