Efficacy And Safety Of Bronchial Thermoplasty In The Treatment Of Moderate Or Severe Asthma In Adults:Meta Analysis

Objective:to systematically evaluate the efficacy and safety of bronchial thermoplasty in adults with moderate or severe asthma.Methods:The CoChrane Library,PubMed,Embase,Web of Science Core Collection,Library of Congress,CNKI,wanfang databases,and VIP were searched by computer from inception to March 4,2019 to collect clinical studies about the treatment of asthma by bronchial thermoplastic surgery.Researchers were screened the literature independently according to inclusion and exclusion criteria,and then conducted literature quality evaluation and data extracted for the included literature.Rev Man5.3 software was used for analysis.Results:a total of 6 articles were included,involving 3 randomized controlled clinical studies.The meta-analysis results showed,pre-bronchodilator FEV1(% predicted)in patients 1 year after BT treatment and 5 years after treatment showed no statistical significance(MD=-1.52,95%CI(-4.22,1.18),P=0.27);post-bronchodilator FEV1(%predicted)in patients 1 year after BT treatment and 5 years after treatment showed no statistical difference(MD=-2.42,95%CI(-5.15,0.31),P=0.08).1 year after BT treatmentand 5 years after treatment,there was no significant difference in emergency treatment level caused by respiratory adverse events(OR=1.06,95%CI(0.68,1.65),P=0.79).1 year after BT treatment and 5 years after treatment,there was no significant difference in hospitalization level caused by adverse respiratory events(OR=0.95,95%CI(0.40,2.29),P=0.91).There was no statistically significant difference in AQLQ scores between the bronchial thermoplasty group and the control group(MD=0.28,95%CI(0.06,0.50),P=0.01).There was no statistically significant difference in ACQ scores between the bronchial thermoplasty group and the control group(MD=-0.17,95%CI(-0.14,0.48),P=0.28).Conclusion:BT treatment of moderate or severe asthma can significantly improve the quality of life of patients,lasting at least 5 years,and safe and effective.
