Objective:Detecte the changes in the level of serum visceral adipose tisue-derived serine proteinase inhibitors(vaspin),interleukine-1(IL-1)in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM)to explore whether vaspin is a factor affecting the formation of carotid atherosclerotic plaques in T2 DM.Methods:According to the results of carotid artery ultrasound examination, selected 63 patients with T2 DM were divided into simple T2DM(SDM)group(32 cases)and T2 DM complicated with carotid atherosclerosis(CAS)group(31 cases). In addition,Thirty-one healthy subjects who underwent physical examination in outpatient department of our hospital in the same period were selected as the control group.Vaspin and IL-1 levels of fasting serum, general information(height, weight, blood pressure)and biochemical indicators(fasting blood glucose, fasting insulin, glycosylated hemoglobin, and blood lipids)were measured in all subjects.By comparing the differences among the three groups, analyze the correlation between serum vaspin and il-1,blood glucose, blood lipid and other indicators in T2 DM patients and discuss the factors that may affect the formation of carotid atherosclerotic plaques in T2 DM patients.Results:1.The concentrations of IL-1 in serum were gradually increased in NC group,SDM group and CAS group, and the difference between the three groups was statistically significant(P<0.05).The level of vaspin in SDM group was significantly higher than that in CAS group(P<0.05).2.The correlation analysis showed that vaspin in serum had negative correlation with the course of disease and IL-1 in serum(r=-0.296,-0.248,P<0.05);serum IL-1 was negatively correlated with serum TC,LDL-C and vaspin(r=-0.355,-0.409,-0.282;P<0.05)in patients with T2 DM.3.Logistic regression analysis showed that the increase of age, diastolic blood pressure and IL-1in serum(?=0.110,0.079,0.009;OR=1.116,1.083,1.009)was independent risk factor, while the increasing vaspin in serum(?=-0.626,OR=0.535)was protective factor in the formation of carotid plaques in patients with T2 DM.Conclusion:1.Serum Vaspin and IL-1 may be the factors affecting the formation of carotid atherosclerotic plaques in T2 DM.2.Vaspin may play an protective role in T2 DM complicated with carotid atherosclerosis by inhibiting the proinflammatory cytokines IL-1 induced inflammation.
