Removable partial denture is one of the main restorations of dentition defects.In the process of oral clinical,because of the variety of dentition defects,types and shapes of denture components,many dentists are still used to designing removable partial dentures by drawing pictures on paper-based design sheets.It's simple and intuitive,but hard to manage and utilize the design data furtherly.Therefore,we propose a modeling method of removable partial denture design data.On this basis,a graphical method is proposed to transform the design data into a graphical design blueprint and show it out.Then,three methods are proposed to provide decision support for the design processes of removable partial denture,one is based on similar medical records recommendation,another one is based on machine learning techniques,the last one is based on empirical rules.Finally,a removable partial denture intelligent design support system is designed and implemented based on the above two functions.(1)From the aspect of data modeling,the design data of removable partial denture aredivided into form data,discrete graphic data and continuous graphic data,differentkinds of data are modeled and expressed in different ways to form a complete datamodel of removable partial denture design.(2)From the aspect of graphic presentation,we start from the data model,consider thedomain knowledge and the habits of the dentists,uses a stratified strategy and aseries of component drawing algorithms to reduce the design data to a graphicaldesign blueprint which is similar to the drawing by hand.(3)From the aspect of intelligent design support,we combine the characteristics of threedifferent kinds of system implementation methods of decision support systems tosupport the intelligent design support of removable partial denture.We mainly basedon the case-based method,use the machine learning method to determine theabutment selection,and use the rule-based method to adjust the recommended designof the first two methods.Finally,a close-loop-system of removable partial denturedesign support is obtained by combining those methods with an interactive manualcalibration.Finally,based on the above proposals and the clinical requirements of the oral hospitals,we realized an intelligent design support system which can adapt to the doctors' habits and integrate into the medical workflow closely.On one hand,it supports the interactive design of the removable partial denture.On the other hand,it gives the recommended removable partial denture design based on the dentition defect of the current patient.
